I'd be willing to toy with the prospect of Canada joining the US as a state. :P

But really, I support decentralizing power, not centralizing it. The Federal government should be the weakest- states should be far more powerful, with hopefully even more local branches retaining power. So basically whatever works against this, I'm against.

A single organization does seem like it would make it easier to solve problems between the countries.

Plus, a single currency would help the economy of all three countries.

Oh, c'mon...this information has been around for far too many years, and my fellow Americans have chosen to watch 'football' rather than know and understand what's been happening. New World Order (world government) has been in the 'plan' since before my grandma was born. The 'American' reply to being told:

"Woo, woo, woo...conspiracy theory...don't hand me that BS. Are you a Communist?"

So, all of a sudden we wake up/become aware, eh? Too late. How many people are aware that certain groups tried to get Ritlin into our schools in 1935? (read 'The Hyperactive Child'). How many Americans paid attention to the numerous times the Board of Regents LOWERED our Standard of Education (part of The Dumbing of America)?

They didn't even really pay attention when Bush got in...not once, but twice...and most knew he was NOT voted in.Yet most juststood still, blinked their eyes and said: 'What happened?'

That's when certain groups knew it was time to move ahead. Americans, per se, cared nothing about knowing our politics and looking into it...and because of that, now they wonder how it happened.

muppet1010

because of what?whats happened?

your just a bit of a nut "truthseekr"... you make one of these conspiracy threads whenever you come online and there quite annoying... even more frustratingly so whenever someone gives you a legitimate challene you just use the "you've been brainwashed by the media" or "you havent looked for the truth" crap....

that wouldnt happen... there wont be a north american union of nations and you need to stop making stupid conspiracy threads...

Selective reading?

Bad Idea. As far as I know the whole NAU thing isnt a conspiracy at all, its was a ligitimate idea that Lou Dobbs covered quite a bit.

Yeah, needing a national ID card to go to a national park or get on a flight? WTF? A drivers licence is good enough IMO.

Well, not being a citizen of either of those countries, I probably cannot appreciate all of the consequences of such a manoeuvre. However, I think such an alliance would produce a world power of rather titanic proportions...and one that is a goodie, not a baddie. :P A lot people will object, but probably only because of trivial rivalries held between the nations.

I'm sure there'd have to be compromises made by each nation, but once a decision is reached, I reckon it could well work. Instead of being separated, why not be united?

I'd accept Canada. I think it makes sense to join a country that speaks english for the most part. Plus, I might want to travel to Canada and we wouldn't have to go through border patrol.

National Sovereignty comes to mind as opposed to a delegated Union

You make a good point, but like I stated above, that is only a result of superfluous and archaic rivalries between the nations that really don't have any place in a modern society.

My thoughts exactly, the way people are proposing it in this thread would be terrible, but these things are almost destined to happenwith all the other unions, so I think by the time it actually comes around they should have a good system of joining the continent, and a plan for mexico.

Thats IF it happens.

I don't get how any of this translates into a North American Union. Most of what Lou Dobbs says is along the lines of "the masterminds of this plan are big business and government elites," which has somehow become a valid argument. All I've seen is three neighbouring countries creating regulations on imports and border control, both of which will be beneficial for the citizens of each country. Where is the proof that this will create a North American Union? Where is the proof that America (the most powerful country of the 3 and the one with 10x the population of Canada) will lose its sovereignty?

That's what they're doing to every damn continent. Making em unions, to later promote an even bigger unification where the whole world will use a "common currency", global government etc. How many of these legislatures, or whatever, how many of these fools that are attempting to pass this, have asked for you opinion on it, Let alone mine?? How many people are even aware, besides you in this thread, and even so, most still can't fathom the idea of the government doing such a thing, despite all the evidence thrown in their face. How will we not lose our national sovereignty if we are to be intergrated with 2 other countries that live on this North American plate and abide by a new Union-ized law /government?

As long as we Canadians get to keep our laws etc then im down with it! Then you guys couldn't make fun of us for our accents because they would be yours also! lol actually most of us speak normal but.......Anyways yah we would have the most feared army in the world! Add all of the canadian forces with all of the american forces with all of the mexican forces and no country in the world could tell us what to do. Though i do not want that founding father and the declaration of independence in our school system at all!

Canada: 30 million people
America:300 Million people
Mexico:14 million people

Total: 343-350 million people.

I'm Mexican, but I seriously don't want my country to go bankrupt because mypeople come illegal and take away jobs from my fellow citizens. Knowing corporations however, they'd rather pay some illegal alien $6.50/hourfor backbreaking labor instead of paying the right wages to the legal skilled citizen. You see itin the Construction Industry, Telecommunications, Real Estate, Warehousing etc industries.

No, it's NOT.

This isn't like the European Union. All those countries have around teh same economy.

The NAU would combine the SUPERPOWER of the world, with a country that lives in the superpower's shadow, and i freaking third world country. I dont want a freaking 3rd world country to bring down my country's economy.

And why would we need to??? Trade is already tax free between the US, Canada, and Mexico. So making trading easier is a bunch of BULL****.

No it's not a good idea. I don't think it will happen either.

So making trading easier is a bunch of BULL****.

helium_flash

thats just selfishness right there, so ur saying we shouldnt help Mexico or some other country get on the right track to a healthy economy?

[QUOTE="Truth_Seekr"][QUOTE="Vyse_The_Daring"][QUOTE="Truth_Seekr"]

[QUOTE="Vyse_The_Daring"]I don't get how any of this translates into a North American Union. Truth_Seekr

So show me this evidence. I'm waiting for proof that this is the direction North America is headed.
