THE ARMY!!! We have the wits, the training, the manpower, the equipment, but most importantly, the Green Berets.
US Army all the way......
The Army teaches aim.:lol:The army might have a bigger budget (and tech from that) and more special forces, but the marines are a much better trained fighting force.
Marines actually teach every soldier to aim (well).
Every marine soldier pretty much equals an army ranger.

Every Marine is a rifleman.
Not so much with the army.

If you fielded all the Marines and an equal amount Army Combat MOS soldiers, the Marines would loose, obviously not without a good fight though. The Army teaches aim.[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]

Everyone in the army is taught how to fire their rifle. First thing taught actually.....Your experience is?

Not a chance. Army Rangers go through standard basic training, infantry training, airborne school, and air assault school. Marines only go through standard basic training and infantry training.
the army, is with out a doubt the best fighting force in the world. they have the latest technology, and the best training. if you look in history, the army, in ww2 was fighting in europe, and the pacific, while the marines were stranded in the pacific. also, the marines say that they are the first in, but the army is usually there before it is even a war ie. the green barets, and delta force.resistance29actually the US has the 6th largest army in the world, others willing to die for their country

I had an uncle in both, and the one that went to the army admits the Marines were better trained.
Again I stated well. Marines are trained to all be marksman (I said marksman not sniper).
Army = Adequate, Marine = Marksman. In terms of shooting skill.
What a load of crap in this thread. A flame war this will be.
Army Infantry are just as good as the Marine Infantry
This depends on which side gets the support of the rest of the U.S. military. Whichever side has the Air Force and the Navy with it wins easily, because they can torch the other guy's supply lines, gather intelligence more easily and outmanuever their opponents by such a large degree that it becomes basically a question of "tank vs immobilized tank".
Ignoring those aspects of warfare and logistics and assuming that you're confining it to a matchup of armor, infantry and artillery... the Army'd win. Their men may have inferior equipment and training, but the Marines as a branch isn't meant to fight in long-term heavy field battles; they need their transports to actually do what they're good at doing (blitzing targets at a rapid pace and zipping all about the map after clearing out each objective) and they won't have those transports without the Navy or the Airforce. The Army's more optimized for slug-out matches, and it's also about 2-4 times larger.

Oh I see an uncle with experience in one branch is an authority on the branch he wasn't in. Makes perfect sense. Anyway, the army puts firing the weapon as a priority. Shooting skill is up to the individual. Marksmans is the lowests qualification rank in the army. Lowest. And EVERYONE must qualify and do so regularly. The marines usually have the toughest assignments. I think on a general level the marines may have better training, but the army has so many specialized units that they may have the better soldiers.
Sorry to be the negative one here, but the army and the marine suck ass, anyone who kills people for money deserve no respect at all.
That is all.
Most people in the marines or army will never kill a single person. They're tasked with defending and serving their country. I give them all the respect in the world, because these are people with families, lives, and reasons to live, yet they are willing to risk all of that. The Army teaches aim.[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]

good point. after the army gets done with them, their gonna need all the riflemen they can getIt's no doubt that the army would lose BAD marines on the contrary go through all kinds of tests ans training.
They are masters of suprise courtesy of the water insertion training. Also they are more well equipped the few awesome infantry guns that we get go to
the marines. Another thing is the go through drowning school, fitness training, and HELL WEEK. Although the marines have less men, They have superior training and GUNS. Army would be tough but saying if this is only infantry versus infantry, US marines hands down.
This threads are so stupid.
"uhhh, I've never been in the military, but I heard the marines are better"
"uhhh, the Marines have cooler uniforms, they must be better"
"uhhh, the Marines always go in first, dont they?"
They are both awesome, and they have different and similar capabilities. Marines are simply Navy Infantry with cooler uniforms and even cooler commercials.
Who TOTALLY fight evil knights in labyrinths! I just wish I could have found the dragon fighting commercials. Thank you, Marines, for defending our borders from the forces of Tiamat!. Marines are simply Navy Infantry with cooler uniforms and even cooler commercials.
hi_im_dave
I doubt the US Marines would win. US Army has horseloads of vehicles, they have newer equipment, and TBH i doubt that marines "better" physical training would matter when they are being overrun left and right by tanks and APCs, airborne dropping on their heads and Apaches tearing them apart.
Sure they are hard, but they aint THAT hard.

its called research; documentary television shows, books, newspaper articles, internet articles, magazines, etc.
I am so tired of this "Oh you dont have firsthand experience, therefore you cant form an objective conclusion" bullcrap

The Army will make you a man.
The Marines will make you a better man.

Its a necessary evil, and no, theyre not murderers. They fight against other enemy combatants; that might make them killers, but not murderers. There is a subtle difference.
And, as has been stated, only a small percentage truly do any killing.
As for "killing for money", no one becomes a soldier for the money lol. They are some of the most underpaid government workers, at least in this country (they get good benefits though, and rightfully so). Ive got a few friends in the militiary, I think when one of them broke it down he said most non-officiers get paid the equivelent of like 2.50 an hour.
They deserve our respect because they make the necessary sacrifices most of us are not willing to make.
