[QUOTE="VERTIGO47"]

And as for the TC saying that the Marines were ONLYin the Pacific in WWII.....um, you do realize the Marines are Smaller than the Army right? Hence, the term A R M Y. And the Marines Island Hopping campaign made PERFECT SENSE for the Marines because they are an AMPHIBIOUS NAVAL INFANTRY force. Not like the ARMY, who are a LAND Base infantry force. However, the invasion of Normandy did have the US ARMY and Alied forces leading the way for a massive amphibious engagement against Germany, but again, the ARMY is much more larger than the few the proud.....the Marines.

That last part probably made you ooze pride out of evrey hole in your body amirite :D

the Army had more soldiers in the Pacific than the Marines

[QUOTE="xaos"][QUOTE="hi_im_dave"]

. Marines are simply Navy Infantry with cooler uniforms and even cooler commercials.

Mercenary848

Who TOTALLY fight evil knights in labyrinths! I just wish I could have found the dragon fighting commercials. Thank you, Marines, for defending our borders from the forces of Tiamat!

That commercial was rediculous...where can I sign up.

But seriously this thread smells like crap due to the large number of information people are pulling out of their behinds.

Unless you have enlisted you can not be the judge, unless you get beat up by two guys. One from the army and one marine. Whichever knocks you out the fastest wins.

That commercial was legit?!?!? lol

Well, commercials after that one are awesome.

I would argue that the average marine is more skilled and tougher than the average army.. They are always put in the most dangerous zones first, and take the brunt of it most times.. Furthermore they are the force of choice for protecting embassies as well as peacekeeping missions for the most part.. Now above that, such as special forces like army rangers.. Its a toss up with marine special forces.. That being said, Marine boot camp is more physically demanding as well as having higher physical requirements.. Army last I checked on their point system you could pass with a small 30 push ups in 2 minutes..

I almost joined the Marines....But I failed the physical.. Couldn't get my head in a jar.....

Do you know how to give a Marine brain damage? Take a hand full of sand and throw it up against a brick wall and tell them to hit the beach.

30 push ups in 2 min? Yeah if you're my age. 45... Check again and don't forget sit ups and the 2 mile run. Know what the hell you're talking about before you post

I think you might want to check again. There are three categories and they vary by age and gender. Each service has their duties. I'd not select peace keeping and embassies as strenuous duties though.

Oh, for God's sake. Who cares? Both do the same job: defending the United States. I never really understood this whole rivalry thing between the four primary branches of the military. As if one is better or more relevant than all the others. All four work in unison towards a common goal, after all.

Each branch picks on the other branches. But it's not quite a rivalry like users here seem to try to make it.

The marines are trained far better than the army. I even have a friend in the army that has admitted it.

It's all in fun always has been always will be. This has been going on for decades. Sure sometimes people take it to far and it gets out of hand. But in war time we all pull together we all go through the same damn thing and when a brother or sister falls we all feel the same and lean on each other.

Both are part of the U.S. military so it's ridiculous to call either side "better" or whatever. Both are equally important, and anyways, about the Marines being more well trained, both are trained well, just different features are trained. And a lot of the Marines sniper training is through Army sniper schools.
