Although I should say, ive seen recent polls that most americans oppose military invasion in Iran. However that could change if tensions escalate and if the media campaigns begin

The Iraq agenda was never about you or me personally. The American people were never intended to reap any benefits, their role was to give their lives so companies like Halliburton and the Carlyle Group could get fat.

You bring up a valid and solid point. I guess as long as the U.S keeps a portion of the society oppressed there will always be an endless supply of those looking for an opportunity.

They sure sell it well, just look at those smiling faces. Everyone with capped teeth getting their education and coming home in one piece.

My sentence had two very separate points. I think you were trying to piece them together which caused miscommunication.

Me a conspiracy nut? Heck no. The fact that people buy into whatever the Government sells them makes them the biggest conspiracy theorists going. ***box cutters***

Seems like an awful lot of trouble to get Halliburton fat when you could do that by just giving them a bunch of contracts to do something useful domestically.

Although I am not sure why you would even bother with something that hard if I was a global industrial conspiracist. I'd just electronically add a few zeros to my bank account. Or just have the treasury dump a load of newly minted bills at my warehouse. Not sure why I would bother with anything more complex than that.

You are thinking physically "one piece". Have you met many of the front line people who will never be the same (not in a good way) since coming home? Three of my friends were in Iraq for almost 2 years... never heard them speak of the college education once.

So you admit the economic situation is a Republican strategy to increase enlistment!? Seriously though I think it's going to be harder for the US to get international allies but when it comes to recruits the culture of the US ensures that it will continue to be quite easy to fill the ranks.

No, I'm thinking of everything. That's funny, I know hundreds of people who served with me in Iraq and Afghanistan. Quite a few of them got out and went through college. Some of us chose public service instead.

And going to school while you are IN the military is rare. Usually only those who are posted CONUS have that chance.

One of our better conspiracies.

Indeed. The way the Armed Forces are regarded, and the way we honor veterans continues to ensure young people join the ranks.

Just because you can't see the opportunity or the fact that it was a half failed opportunity does not take away from the fact that it was an attempted business opportunity.

... and what is all this "WE" talk. I have now seen 3 of you use the word "WE". There is no WE. There is the common man and then there is the Government. Did you think you would be getting profit cheques from the oil?

Most all branches had to stop recruitment. The war put such a huge dent in the economy that the military now has to be extremely picky of who they recruit. They are looking for any reason to turn someone down.

I enlisted just so I could go to Afghanistan even though I was in 2nd grade when the WTC was hit. I hate to quote call of duty but this country has no shortage of "patriots".

Yea there are a lot of people trying to enlist now but that's why Marines are only recruiting high school seniors and Army is doubling it's pt requirements (which sucks). It's not as easy to get in anymore they are all very picky with who gets in and who doesn't. ASVAB requirements for every branch got bumped up to 50, Weight requirements based on body fat% is more strict. If you have any type of criminal record you can forget about the enlisting. On top of all that they have no problem cutting dead weight before you even go to basic. My friend enlisted in the Marines, wasn't showing up to the weekly trainings or showing dedication so they discharged him. My recruiting office(Army) has already discharged a few people because they just weren't cut out for the military. So yea a lot of people want to get in but a lot of people are getting turned down. When I swore in at MEPs(processing/evaluating basically) the first thing the officer said to us was "Congratulations only 23% of recruits that walk through the door make it this far".

If you want to join the military by all means go for it but you gotta earn it. I don't leave for basic training for another 2 weeks and I'm already in the best shape I've ever been in.

And yes I fully intend on getting a college education

I don't think that the U.S. Government will have any issues getting recruits as long as our economy is in shambles. People will do whatever needs to be done to support their families, even if it means going against what they believe in and fighting a farce war.

Well, who in the world would want to join USA army after everyone got duped and lied to? No one, I would hope....

Some people suggest that the president could invoke the military draft once again if the situation in the Middle East continues to escalate(and it seems that it is....) due to the National Emergency that he declared not to long ago where he exemplifies his concern over the nuclear proliferation of the Russian Federation.

...

In the Executive Order I have issued today, I find that the risk of nuclear proliferation created by the accumulation in the Russian Federation of a large volume of weapons-usable fissile material continues to constitute an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States. I therefore declared a national emergency to address this threat and to continue the blocking of all property and interests in property of the Government of the Russian Federation directly related to the implementation of the HEU Agreements.

A major national security goal of the United States is to ensure that fissile material removed from Russian nuclear weapons pursuant to various arms control and disarmament agreements is dedicated to peaceful uses, subject to transparency measures, and protected from diversion to activities of proliferation concern. The United States and the Russian Federation entered into an international agreement in February 1993 to deal with these issues as they relate to the disposition of HEU extracted from Russian nuclear weapons (the "HEU Agreement"). The HEU Agreement provides for 500 metric tons of HEU to be converted to LEU over a 20-year period. This is the equivalent of 20,000 nuclear warheads.

...

If it comes down to a draft, I'd rather get charged with treason and go thru hell while being "interogated" then to fight for the interest of coporate entities.

If it comes down to a draft, I'd rather get charged with treason and go thru hell while being "interogated" then to fight for the interest of coporate entities.

I think that I'd just be a deserter if that happened. I wouldn't mind some free training and a gun. I'll just take that gun and gtfo as soon as I can manage a swift escape.

[QUOTE="Jebus213"]"Business Opportunity" Yeah cuz we got so much out of Iraq. *sarcasm*BossPerson

the american people werent supposed to be the ones benefiting

Although I should say, ive seen recent polls that most americans oppose military invasion in Iran. However that could change if tensions escalate and if the media campaigns begin

You mean the leftist media campaigns to oppose war at all costs and talk about "unwinnable" scenarios?

No they won't.

In this economy EVERYONE is trying to join the military.

So you admit the economic situation is a Republican strategy to increase enlistment!? Seriously though I think it's going to be harder for the US to get international allies but when it comes to recruits the culture of the US ensures that it will continue to be quite easy to fill the ranks.

Allies like Canada that freeload off of American security guarantees and hitch rides into Afghanistan with American aircraft?

Not me, good Sir, I will die for my country which happens to be the USA. If there is a call to arms that demands me I will go with sincereity and dignitiy. I know other Americans would do the same.

I believe you are right. No one in this country wants any more wars. At least not any reasonable person.

Nobody wants an unnecessary war. Most importantly, though, Americans are sick of fighting wars that are then destroyed by leftist politics that ruin the military's ability to secure military objectives. Either fight a war to win it and destroy the enemy or don't fight it at all. Don't send the military in with its hands tight behind its back and give the enemy the advantage.

Would you consider Obama a leftist? Because he has maintained both the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.

Enough with the politics of personal distruction. We shouldn't be sending our troops like some sort of star troopers to distroy other nations. We should concentrate our efforts here at home.

It's not like Bush prosecuted those wars effectively. Bush implemented leftist war policies, and Obama has done the same - prosecutions of heroes as "war criminals", stupid ROE that compromise military success and give advantages to the enemies who exploit them, funding the enemies, etc.
