Where do you guys stand in this debate ? Do you think it's cruel to kill Animals ?

The way I see it is that eating meat is natural and not inhuman. Vegetarians don't like to harm animals because they are living things but guess what ? so are plants ! Just because the plants can't scream or shout don't mean they can't feel pain.

Well anyway I'm not against Vegetarians but I reckon it's stupid to think that killing animals for consumption is inhuman.

I hate PETA though, I mean they go around saying don't kill or harm animals but then they do it themselves :o what hypocrites.

Anyway what do you guys think about killing animals for eating ?

Also what do you guys think of PETA ?

Humans are omnivores by nature, so I enjoy a little meat every now and then. Animals eat animals all the time, that's the way nature works.

Vegetarians can do whatever the hell they want, just leave me alone. I like eating meat, no need to get in my face, saying it's bad. I know their stance, but I don't really care. Some of my favorite dishes are based around meat, and I'm not changing that anytime soon.

I do not judge people, but making a comparison between eating a plant and eating an animal are baseless.

Meat Eaters our high protein diets will destroy the vegitarians. But I still think we should protect animals at least from extinction.

I am pretty happy. It is surprisingly easy to replace red meat and poultry in your diet without losing taste. (just changing). You get used to it, and your body responds nicely.

I was vegan for a year, but I'm vegetarian now. I made the switch mainly for health concerns and personal morals. I don't care if people eat meat. It's just not for me.

As for PETA, the only good thing they've done is give me free address labels. The ones that don't say PETA on them are awesome.

Look up, or ask a biologist or doctor how pain is percieved by a creature.

Being Vegan seems hard. You have to make sure you're getting all the nutrients you normally would from meat through other sources. But I'm not here to judge you guys. You act like being a meat eater or a vegetarian is like choosing a religion or something.

Many reasons. Eliminating or reducing red meat in the diet is healthy, and I did not like the fact that an animal had to die for almost every meal I ate. (I would not eat my cats, for example). Also, the energy cycle that exists to produce beef for consumption is greatly inneficient and harmful to the environment.

BTW, I eat fish occasionally, because it is very healthy, and fish are at the bottom of the 'conciousness level'.

I do not want anyone to take offense to this, I am merely answering a question, and it was a personal decision. I do not force this upon anyone else. But I am always up for a good debate!

that is fine with me :) I didn't make this thread to bash vegetarians, I just don't like the fact when people say that meat eaters are inhuman for killing animals.

hmm... I think that being at the top of the food chain entitles us to eat, whatever animal we please, however, should an animal near extinction, then I can understand not eating them. Also, anything in moderation is a good thing, so I dont see any harm in eating a burger or steak once a week.( I believe that the misconception of meat being bad for you came from those people that would eat McDonald's for breakfast, lunch AND dinner.) And if you ask me, fish may be worse for you in the long run, assuming you eat the "wrong fish" (the ones carrying mercury)...

My sister is a veggie, and I've dated someone who was a veggie, so I respect veggies, though i might not agree with them :)

Wrong. Most studies have shown that vegetarians live 4 to 7 years longer than the average person.

I'll eat pretty much anything, including tofu and soy fake meat products for a bit of variety. Some of them aren't too bad - so long as you don't expect it to taste like meat.

I do, however, hate vegetarians or vegans with an agenda, the ones who feel the need to be extremely vocal or obnoxious when you're out eating meat in public. Yes, there is beef in my hamburger, no, I don't care about the cow who died to make it. You won't win me over with guilt or twisted logic.

We are higher up in the food chain then tigers. That doesn't mean we have to be physically stronger, faster, etc. It simply means that if we wanted to, we could kill a tiger and eat it easily. Guns but us higher up in the food chain then any other animal on earth.

I have nothing against having a vegetarian Diet/lifestyle, but some vegetarians piss me off. Like the ones who addopted the lifestyle to ease animal suffering but still eats fish because they consider them not as conscious as other animals. It's just way hypocritical.

The meat we eat will probably never go extinct. But the vegtables give us oxygen where as the animals do nothing. If anything were saving the grass from cows or other animals.

I don't see it as hypocritical. I replaced the instances where I would eat beef, chicken, and pork with something else (thereby lessening the amount of animals I eat), and eat fish once or twice a week as usual. Fish lack the neocortex, the part of the brain that more advanced animals possess in order to create the sensation of feeling pain. (note: there is a difference between experiencing a negative stimulus, and feeling pain).

My cats eat regular food. Cats require meat to function and live. (they also eat much less than we do, because of their size).

the only reason human's have a brain large enough to debate the pros and cons of eating meat is because humans ate meat... so...
