[QUOTE="swizz-the-gamer"]American healthcare :roll:hoola

better than socialism.

Nope, wrong.

The most powerful nation on earth which happens to be based on capitalism and democracy says YOU are wrong. America did not become a super power by being socialist...

Wow it must be so nice to live in a Country that could wipe out entire society's! Wow you must feel so strong and powerful! And the world health organisation says YOU are wrong!

they became a superpower by staying out of WWI and WWII till the very last minute, so they didn't have to spend too much money on it...

Yep. Can't think of any Americans that go elsewhere for treatment., And in countries with socialized medicine the wealthy STILL buy insurance. That says a lot.

This is what i was thinking "Powerful America should shoot itself in its head (force health insurance on its people) to gain happiness" America is too far in debt to provide healthcare for its citizens and forcing companies to provide it would jack the prices up on things that don't even apply to the insurance/healtchare industry and it could potentially hurt the economy. Atleast that is what i think.

I'm actually against government in almost every way(I'd say I'm a minarchist). So I'm not really into any government collections. But I just don't see why people think happiness is being powerful.

There is a large difference between the entire country's health being put into the hands of corrupt health insurance companies and a select few rich people using bupa for mostly cosmetic surgery.

No... My mother had a tumor and tried to use Bupa and they 'did not do that operation'. So she waited for around another 2 days and got the operation free on the NHS and it turned out fine. The NHS is a great system in my opinion and far superior to the states.

Right. She got a million from the trucking company. And 470k from Wal-MArt to cover her medical expenses. Her medical expenses were 412k, so that should have left her with a 600k, give or take? *After paying Wal-MArt

Yeah it is not that i don't want free health care it is just that i don't trust a government to provide it for me. Everyone seems to hate the American government yet people want them to take care of their bodies. Having government supplied healthcare brings other issues to the table too. Smoking and drinking for example...if the government ends up spending lots of money on helping people who have problems because of those substances why would they not just make those illegal? Would it hurt the economy? would it take "freedom" away? would it increase violence and even use of the substances themselves?

If government provides healthcare, why can they not provide gasoline or cars? They are both expensive and everyone uses and may even need them.

[QUOTE="swizz-the-gamer"] No... My mother had a tumor and tried to use Bupa and they 'did not do that operation'. So she waited for around another 2 days and got the operation free on the NHS and it turned out fine. The NHS is a great system in my opinion and far superior to the states.
hoola

The problems in the US are highly exaggerated. I've never had to wait for treatment.,

Did I say you did? The issue is that treatment is left in the hands of insurance companies. I think blind patriotism has gotten in the way of logic.

Because they are hardly necessary things in comparison to health care!

Sure, it sucks but it's better then setting a horrible precedent. I also enjoy reading everyone's off tangent comments on health care. I'll take a shot in the dark the bulk of people here don't even know what type of plan they have.

I agree. Tangents make the OT go round. And worth visiting.

If we always stayed on topic on off topic, we wouldn't be here.

She got paid a million instead of 470k. Why don't they have enough to pay Wal-Mart back?

Jandurin

The trucking company paid her a million, which after a VERY STEEP 60% attorney fee, she ended up with around $400k. Wal-Mart has spent about $470k on her medical treatments etc because she signed up with their healthplan when she was an employee before the traffic accident, which Wal-Mart is now attempting to sue her for the $470k they spent on her. The article said they don't even have that to pay back even if they wanted to, it says they have around $150k-$200k leftover out of the money they got from the traffic accident.

Does it say that? I thought the other people paid for your attorney fees when they were in the wrong?Jandurin

It comes out of the settlement. She got less than half.

Sucks. I feel bad for them. Wal-Mart will get their money, eventually.
