I'm currently reading "Fleet of Worlds" by Larry Niven and Edward Lerner. I've liked other novels by Larry Niven and I've enjoyed this one so far. It's the first book in a series, so that should give me enough reading material until I go back to school.
A couple chapters in The Hobbit. How is A Song of Ice and Fire? A good read? what are they about? fantasy, scifi?CoolSkAGuy
It is a fantastic read. It is a sort of medieval fantasy, but with a much bigger focus on the humanity and psychology of the characters (that are extremely realistic in their conflicts, troubles and power struggles), and in the whole political and warfare games played between the different families of the realm; than in the fantasy aspect.
There are a few touches of fantasy here and there, though.

Only thing I'm worried about is that with the rise of
The White Walkers and the dragons
the series is going to become yet another fantasy novel. Honestly I'd love if he removed the above two elements and made it a realistic fantasy.Only thing I'm worried about is that with the rise of
The White Walkers and the dragons
the series is going to become yet another fantasy novel. I don't think the books would be the same without those two things.
****... now that everyone has mentioned "A Song of Ice and Fire" over and over again, I feel the urge to dig out the 1st three books and re-read them. Thanks. :P
Yeah, that sort of takes out the Ice and Fire aspect. lol
I agree with majoras_wrath that I prefer the realistic elements of the series more than the fantasy, but the element of fantasy certainly keeps the series interesting and leaves the door open for anything to happen.

I am waiting to do that once book 6 comes out, because by the I will probably have forgotten all the little things about the story.
Cuerrently Imperial Commando: 501st by Karren Travis, been great along with the rest of the series. Very sad to learn that this story will never be concluded. Screwed over by Lucas and his lackies again : /
And Also Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky, great as well. He really creates a sense of fear and desperation with the characters and their lives in the Moscow metro. Waiting for Metro 2034 to ever get translated. Might have to just end up getting a copy in German.
Whatcha' reading, OT?
I'm currently half-way through A Dance With Dragons, book five of A Song of Ice and Fire. Pretty good, much better than A Feast for Crows, me thinks.
I'm trying to find some good sci-fi/fantasy/modern thriller to read on my Kindle after I'm finished with this. Going to the Jersey Shore for a couple weeks, so I need some things to keep me occupied. Any ideas?
I got that coming in the mail and I can't wait. I can hardly ever find good books anymore.Cuerrently Imperial Commando: 501st by Karren Travis, been great along with the rest of the series. Very sad to learn that this story will never be concluded. Screwed over by Lucas and his lackies again : /

Have you read the new book by Timothy Zahn? Been wondering if I should get it.
Nice. How are you finding it? I've got Laxness on my list to read. My uncle is a huge Laxness fan and is one of the co-founders of an English speaking Laxness fan-site.Independent People by Halldor Laxness
