Damn man, when are we going to have something so epic as Lord of the Rings. And im not only talking about movie quality, we had lots of good movies since Lotr, some even better, but no Epic movies, and notice i capitalized epic. We need another medieval mix with fantasy type of movie. With swords, ogres, Ents, kings, Elfs and all of that. It was all so perfect in Lotr.

Just hear this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1cTuUwZILg&feature=related

So perfect, i almost wanna cry.

The last Epic movie that i loved was Troy. Why not make a movie based on Homero Odyssey this time? Or maybe a movie based on the Magic the Gathering Universe, that would be perfect.

They need to stop making movies about every single crap they can think of, they even make movies about the facebook (WTF?!?!?!).

I got all warm and fuzzy after the video. Ok, you just inspired me. I'm watching LotR when I get home from work. Maybe the Avengers will help your fix for an epic movie! At least I hope. :P

Troy? The acting was atrocious. I wouldn't necessarily called that Epic.. At the very most enjoyable. But Yes Lord of the Rings was amazing. We do need another movie of that scale.

I agree. Since LOTRs and Star Wars, we haven't hot a MAJOR blockbuster series that just rocks the house. Harry Potter is a very good series, but the anticipation that was LOTRs and the new Star Wars was like waiting in line to get into Disney Land as a kid.

I liked all of the Lotr movies except the first one. IMO that movie was boring but the rest were enjoyable.

Nope. At the moment, no one is signed on as a director. It doesn't help that the studio is doing terrible.

You know what the word Epic means right? People use that word so many times that dont know the meaning already. An epic is a genre of film that emphasizes human drama on a grand scale. Epics are more ambitious in scope than other film genres, and their ambitious nature helps to differentiate them from similar genres such as the period piece or adventure film. The term "epic" comes from the poetic genre exemplified by such works as the Iliad, the Odyssey, the Mahabharata and the Ramayana. Got it? Troy is an Epic movie.

That word epic, then yes Troy was epic. But the movie itself was rather suckish.

It feels like it was yesterday when i saw the triology. Its one of these things that makes you feel really sad and empty when they end, its like you lost a good friend. Its one of these things that you wanna know how it ends but you dont want to end, never, cause you know there wont be nothing quite like it again. I dont usually cry with any movies, but i was REALLY REALLY close here: ( Keep in mind that this was already after many emotional scenes ) You bow to No one

I have seen that movie so many times... In fact I have 40-50 epic speeches and lines memorized from those movies. Greatest trilogy of all time.

Well there's Twilight, that's an epic. Epic piece of garbage.

If you really want to get into it, there have been epics since LOTR. Inception, being the most recent, fits the definition. But I'm assuming you want sword/sorcery type stuff and that's where you're probably going to have to wait a while.

Studios are still trying to cash in on LOTR's success and we keep getting less than impressive works that just aren't up to par. Chronicles of Narnia could have been amazing but it was lackluster and forgettable. The Golden Compass was a horrible adaptation. You know Universal will screw up The Wheel of Time. They're remaking both Conan the Barbarian and Red Sonja, the former looking ok and the latter looking awful. Did you like Clash of the Titans? CotT2 is in the works. Sam Raimi is still doing Warcraft. Terry Brooks' Shannara series is being made into films (it might be good since Warner is handling it!). And Ron Howard is going to destroy my favorite series of all time that is Stephen King's The Dark Tower.

While the movies were good, I personally did not enjoy them. I could do without the creation of any more. However, a different movie doing the same thing may grab my attention.

' Red Cliff ' is pretty epic, it runs for 286 minutes and quite watchable.

PS: Make sure you see the full version in native Mandarin, not the heavily edited one in English.

I'm excited for The Hobbit!! I found the book at my house one day and read it--before I even knew it was the prequel to LotR. When I was halfway through I started thinking "wait a minute, HAVE I READ THIS BOOK ALREADY?!"

I would much rather have a high quality 4 hour movie that spans the entire series than a TV show that doesn't have anything to do with the book. This is one movie that could compete with the LOTR movies in terms of quality and interest.
