[QUOTE="Cutekitten6_18"][QUOTE="BR1NG3R"]I knew of them too. If you are interested in Cynic, you would probably know of Aghora. Rikardur
Im just surprised because with the exception of you two, my fiancee and 2 other people, no one seems to know them XD

Any Megadeth or Smashing Pumpkins fans here?

So do I.
But my experience with them is limited solely to Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, which I only bought because I heard 1979 and absolutely loved it.

Awesome band... but which album would you prefer... Adore or Mellon Collie?Gish. :P
Of those 2, Mellon Collie
I'm definitely open to suggestions.
None of that Coltrane-ish free form stuff, though. I'm not quite ready for that yet.:P
UnrighteousFury
Coltrane is more Bebop than Free Jazz, that's Dolphy and Coleman territory.
Seriously, listen to Blue Train or Giant Steps by John Coltrane, it goes down easier than A Love Supreme, which I assume is what you're referencing.
Mingus Ah Um, Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus, The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady (albeit, rather expansive and free), and Blues & Roots by Charles Mingus. (He's my GOD!)
Monk's Dream, Brilliant Corners, and It's Monk's Time by Thelonious Monk
Saxophone Colossus by Sonny Rollins
Portrait in Jazz and A Waltz For Debbie by Bill Evans
Them Dirty Blues by Cannonball Adderley
Reflections in Blue by Art Blakey
Blue Ballads by Archie Shepp
Alrighty, there are some less Free Jazz/ Avant-Garde suggestions.

Gish is great though yeah... hang on a second though, I'd agree with you Mellon Collie is a pleasure to listen to... but I'm going to make a topic on this :PAltogether it would be Reign in Blood, although "Zos Kia Cultus" by Behemoth and "Ghost Reveries" by Opeth are somewhat close. Recently it has been "A Night at the Opera" by Queen.

Ah, thanks so much.:D
I'll add these to my neverending list of albums that need to be bought. Now if only my funds increased at the same rate.
Within the past few months I've been listening to this album a lot--at least while I drive...
It's great no doubt, but the main reason why I listen to it so much is that I'm too lazy to burn copies of my other CDs. :x
as of the last 2 days I've listened to Eminem- Relapse 3 times. Surprisingly I'm going to buy that album when it comes out.
It is indeed sir :D Yea it is a great album, glad to see theres other SSPU fans. :)[QUOTE="Morning_Revival"]Swoon is amazing.Dylan_11

Awesome band... but which album would you prefer... Adore or Mellon Collie? How about siamese dream? Adore was and still is my least favorite Pumpkins album. I like the very underrated Machina1/2 way more than Adore (although its not a bad album) Mellon Collie would have been perfect but they over saturated the album a bit. If they removed 1 or 2 songs per album it would be almost perfect.Same.Probably the most influential album I've ever heard.I have to listen to it at least once a day. It's just a work of art.

On the NIN front it goes through stages, one album usually takes prominence for a period of time, then I'll switch onto another for a couple of weeks, then another, until we reach full circle and start the process again. At the moment The Fragile is receiving all the plays.
In terms of the non-NIN front, there is usually a band that gets a lot of plays over a matter of weeks and then I move on coming back to things. And so forth. The none NIN album that is getting a lot of plays is this, in readiness for the new record.

this :  pure awesome

I found it quite disappointing. I expected it to be a very good album, but in the end it just felt kind of forced and stale. I thought "The Horrors" new album was how White Lies' album should have sounded.
