Personally, I hate people who view suicide victims as 'weak' or'pathetic'. Although Ive never had any one I know do it, some people have real problems and just can't see another way out. Not everyoneare as lucky as some people.

What are your thoughts?

I find is pretty wasteful. Even when things are really bad, it's not really that bad.

I don't look down on people that are suicidal or commit suicide though.

The only "victims" of suicide are the friends and family members who cared for the weak and pathetic individual who took the coward's way out.

It's your life, you do what you want with it. No one else has the right to say otherwise.

There are people starving in third world countries struggling to live everyday. Save the air for people who do appreciate life...

I think those who do it are weak and pathetic, running away from their problems instead of turning around and facing them.

Pointless... I'd rather live a life of misery for just one moment that I'll cherish forever than not experience any of it. Of course my life isn't that depressing or anything though, so I never even really think about suicide.

Okay, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that if you want to commit suicide then you're mentally messed up somehow - why? Because humans, like all creatures, are essentially around to breed and make offspring. If they want to kill themselves, they'll be unable to do the above and are thus mentally unsound. Sounds cold and anti-religious, but somehow it makes sense to me. :|

I don't think of people as pathetic, but you can't call them legitimately strong people if they were in fact to weak to carry whatever burdens it was they carried and instead felt eliminating themselves was the only way to relieve it.

That's a silly thing to say. Of course we can judge others without experience! Going with an extreme example: are you saying I can't judge a pedophile unless I've "experienced" that same lust for children that drove him to commit his horrible acts?

I think suicide is a bad thing, and that we should do a better job with people that have suicidal tendencies. Don't just reprimand those who have failed at suicide, but actually try to help them out through their problems. It is a difficult subject, especially since I am starting to get that feeling again. I'm not going to kill myself, but when you are depressed, because you can't find the happy things in life anymore, you feel mentally and physically drained and you feel like your body could just drop at any moment and you'd be alright, because it would bring you peace. Suicide is bad, simply put, but instead of looking down on those that try to kill themselves or have killed themselves, try to help those you can.

You are actually right on that one. In ancient Greek, it is common for elder men to love young boys, and Greek philosophers sometime even allow young boys ingest their semen as an symbolic act of passing down the kowledge. In today's society that is completley perverted and illegal, but it was perfectly acceptable at one point. The reason you refer to such thing as "horrible act" because you live in a society that consider such thing horrible, which also shows your lack of view from other perspective.

Suicidal people often don't think about the ones they'll leave behind, or the loved ones who will find their body. It's really quite a selfish act.

Yes, I think it's the cowards way out. But, I wish them all the best.

My uncle's friend who I've been close to since I was extremely little, shot himself half a year ago, and everyone in the family is having a hard time coping with it still. My friend's father commited suicide, which is upsetting considering he had commitments in life to his daughter and wife and he ran away.

But they do hurt other people.. Not physically, but losing a friend, parent, child will probably hurt more and longer then most physical injuries would.

That's absurd. Of course we should judge! That's how society evolves. We observe something (suicide, etc.), debate its merits, and judge whether or not that something should be smiled or frowned upon.

Some people commit suicide because they have no one close to them. So in that sense they'd be hurting no one.

I love how everyone judges people as "cowards". Have you ever had a mental illness? Maybe some neurological disorder? How do you know the situation they've been in wasn't difficult? I don't see how anyone can have the nerve to possibly judge someone's predicament.

Well they are small if you compare them to what problems others are having in f.ex third world countries. You are as a person insignificant to the big picture. Which makes it even more depressing to live.
