besides the beatles

Pretty much anything in the mainstream, and bonus points go to Nirvana for all the people who hail Kurt as a musical god and say Nirvana is the greatest band ever.

If they count as a band...

I wouldn't count them as a band, but they truly are the definition of overrated...
Led Zeppelin
Jimmy Page is a widely overrated guitarist as well.

Except for the fact that the beatles at least had some talent, they weren't a manufactured disney teen pop band...
jonas brothers is a good pick, they're like the beatles but less popular.

So anything popular = overrated?
I happen to like the beatles. Very catchy tunes tosing along.

Really? You know what everyone would be saying in 1964? I highly doubt that. In fact the beatles are not overrated at all. They deserve every bit of the success they had. From 1960-1964 alone they performed live an estimated 1200 times (and this was before they started to become really successful). The majority of bands don't even perform twelve hundred times in their entire lifetime.[QUOTE="fantom513"][QUOTE="rubbersouI"]
funny thing is if this was 1964 you'd all be saying the same thing about the beatlesrubbersouI

DragonForce is not overrated, pretty much every metalhead in the world hates them. :P

Amon Amarth and Opeth are both overrated in my book. Metallica can go in there as well, as can most country singers.

Yeah, DT is quite overrated. I get the feeling most of their fans don't listen to many other prog metal bands (or they wouldn't say Dream Theater is their favorite band).

actually I know plenty of fans that listen to other Prog bands, Dream Theater are usually what introduce fans to Progressive rock/Metal.[QUOTE="Hot-Tamale"][QUOTE="bokiloki"]

Actually what Axe said is true. I pretty much started out with Pink Floyd, then got into Jethro Tull, then I forgot about rock in general and listened only to Cat Stevens for a year or two, then I got into Dio and some of the trad metal, then I discovered Queensryche, and THEN came my prog metal phase (to which DT pales in comparison to so many vastly superior groups - Pain of Salvation, Tool, Threshold, Suspyre, Beyond Twilight, Ark, Millenium, Circus Maximus, Savatage, and Shadow Gallery, even Frameshift). :|
