Anyway, join the Army. The pay is the same all the way around, but the Army is the most respected. They have the most bases, so it's more likely you will be stationed when you want to be. They also have the most jobs, so you can do what you want to do. There is no question that the Army is the way to go, unless you're fond of being on a boat for 6 months at a time.
WRONG. They do not have the same uniforms. I would suggest that you stop giving out advice because you obviously have no clue what you're talking about. Yeah, that elitist attitude doesn't work around here, especially when you're wrong. Sure they have different names, but they are essentially the same uniform. The Army has been wearing what they call the ACU (Army Combat Uniform) for a few years now, and it's almost identical to the Marine's digitized CUU (Combat Utility Uniform). The only big difference is that the Marines/Navy still wear that silly pointed hat. Marine Uniform (in both desert and woodland) Not the same, buddy. The USMC has 2 different camo patterns (which is better in my opinion), and the army sticks to one, the ACU. Dude, give it up. They are the exact same except the color. Army uses 1 color scheme, and the Marines have 2. Funcionally (which is th most important thing) they are the same. The Army copied the Marines' uniform, after all.The Air Force. Training is easy. They got the best benefits and school tuition aid. Best days off. More career oriented.-RocBoys9489-This is actually the best answer if you're looking for an easy ride. Deployments are only 90 days and it's pretty laid back.
But if you want to kick ass you have to go Army or Marines.

Well you can get school paid for in any branch, it's just a matter of whether or not you have the time to attend while you're in. I graduated college while I was in the Army, and they paid for it (100% tuition plus books). It was tough, though, because I worked from 6 AM to 5 PM, then went to school at night. Well, if the Air Force is saying that then it's a flat out false statement. I'll just speak for the Army since I have first-hand experience, but if you attend while you are active duty you get 100% tuition assistance and books paid for. This is separate from the GI Bill. I used my GI Bill for law school. The Army also has a great program called E-Army U online. They have partnered with several universities around the country to offer 100% online courses to soldiers. And of course, tuition and books are 100% paid for. Plus, you get a free laptop (assuming you complete the minimum requirements, which is a semester of classes with passing grades) in order to use for your classes. It's a great program.
some of you guys act like joining the military is some kind of higher calling like becoming a priest. i gurantee you 90% of the people join because it simply has good benifits and you can get your college education paid for. to me it wouldnt even be a career although it could be an option if really enjoyed it. it would just be like a job i had while i get an education.
i think the air force would be best for me now. it sounds more like the "brain" type of people and personalities join it. id probably fit in there alot more and i can tell you i would never join the military if it meant me being directly involved in combat. i think alot of the air force jobs would provide me with that opportunity.
You're wrong. Yes some people do join for the benefits, but a LOT of people join for a greater reason.some of you guys act like joining the military is some kind of higher calling like becoming a priest. i gurantee you 90% of the people join because it simply has good benifits and you can get your college education paid for. to me it wouldnt even be a career although it could be an option if really enjoyed it. it would just be like a job i had while i get an education.

drachmas
My grandfather was a tanker, and my father is currently a tanker for the United States Army. So that makes me an Army brat and yes, i do bleed green. Each branch offers something unique and different. The advise my father gave me, if I did choose to join the military, choose a job (MOS as the army calls it) that has a future even out in the civilian world. He admits that there are no need for tankers out in the civilian world so if he gets out, he's kinda effed. Henceforth he's staying until he reached his 20 year retirement, and he's getting his degree.
As a military brat, these are my opinion about each branches.
Marines: you are labeled as hardcore, maybe even crazy. but if you're not afraid to fight and/or die for your country. this is the job for you. No matter what your job is, in the marines, you're an infantry soldier first. Semper Fi.
Navy: you can enjoy hands on jobs as well as technical jobs. this isnt vietnam where field medics are needed so navy personels are pretty much safe at home or on there boats. In some jobs you have stay on that boat and go to sea from anywhere from 6 months to 2 years (a friend of mine had a tour that long). The plus side is you get to travel and see a whole bunch of places.
Army: choose a good MOS or you're effed. that's all my dad would ever tell me. he tells me become a leader (officer) instead of a follower (non-commission officer) because the NCO-core sets you up for failure. Yes, they give you your 30 days leave, and yes you get college paid for. the army is nothing special compared to the other branches.
Air Force: the pansies out of all three branches. heck, they dont even have to put away there own trays! they sleep in hotels, and get the biggest war funds. they also have the most technological jobs. Air Force is a great way to go if you want a career, and a family.
If the Air Force recruiter in our area wasnt such a douche, i would join the Air Force because I want a family and a career. I know as an army brat i would have to swallow a whole bunch of pride, but i'd do it for my future family's sake. but since he is a douche, I'm going army. why? my parents cant afford to send me to college. therefore i must do it myself. and this would be my solution

Wow you obviously haven't done any research. That's a decision you need to get information for and decide for yourself. Don't listen to the guy who said join the Marines because they have better uniforms. That's the stupidest thing I've ever seen in my life.
I would recommend the Marines as well, but from what you posted earlier, im not too sure if its for you. Most Marines join because they want to kill people and BSU (blow **** up). And even after basic, which is the longest and most grueling basic training for the US military, you still have greater diffuculties. If you join infantry, you have to go to infantry school which makes you work just as hard, if not harder than in basic training. Then, if in infantry, you will be the spear tip of any infantry forces into the toughest and most violent combat, because thats what the Marines are used for. If you join the marines and don't go infantry, those in the infantry will label you a ****ing POG (person other than grunt), and my brother said that they always picked on POG's pretty badly. On top of all this, the Marines, more than any other branch, is like a brotherhood, into which you will either be hazed badly or "baptised by fire".
The Marines are a great branch of the military, but it isn't for everyone.
become a marine, they got best uni's, and their the tighest in my opinion. marines also got reserves if u want to go reserves. that is if u can handle the marines, there a little crazier than other branches but its worth it.cLAssic_BLUE
not everyone can handle becoming a marine. this kid sounds like he has no real good idea as to why he wants to join the military except for money, and that shouldn't be the most important factor. IMO think it over and do your own research for a few months before making this decision. no one can decide it for you. you should decide this on your own.
Good luck anyway. But I'de be a tad wary about the National Guard- they're not as well trained or equipped and I heard that only 57% of National Guard units are considered combat ready, on the other hand you probably fight less than the better trained units and might have shorter tours of duty and get stationed in less dangerous areas. Marines are probably the best trained and equipped but they do the hard fighting. Navy is probably safest.do they all pay the same going in? should i just join the army reserve? is the national guard better than the army reserve?
i have been to the differant web pages but they really dont give that much information
whipassmt
National Guard units get more funding than Army Reserve units. They answer both to the Federal and State government. National Guard is where most of the funds go, not Army Reserves. The Guard also has more combat MOSs than the Army Reserves.
And like I said before, the majority of combat units in Iraq are Guard units.

Wrong. Do ROTC and get the scholarship you get a full-ride. The Navy, USAF, and Army all have these programs. Not sure about Coast Guard.
mainly i just want the easiest and highest paying branch there is lol. maybe im wrong for it but im not really into the whole "brotherhood" mentality and all the male bonding type stuff that goes with the military. im also not the type who wants to join just to shoot guns and blow things up. i just think right now its a good paying option with not having to deal with all the corporate BS and having to go to college just to get a decent jobdrachmas
definitely not the Marine Corps then. Air Force, or Coast Guard for you.
Ya know, that one that is the good one, ya know that one? That one HAS to be my fav.
edit: Just to make sure this doesn't get marked as spam I guess I will say USAF, I would say marines but they obviously have the best chance of dieing outside of snipers since they are the first ones in..
basic pay is the same for all the branches, for example an E-4 in the Marines makes the same amount of money as an E-4 Airman. however once you leave U.S. territory your pay is no longer taxed, some people time their re-enlistment so that they're overseas, that way when they get their re-enlistment bonus it isn't taxed. Other things like hostile fire pay, BAH, special duty pay, **** like that im not 100% positive but if basic pay is the same im leaning towards the fact that additional pay is as well. but pretty much all across the board we all make the same amount of money. If you want to make more money in the military just go IA or volunteer for deployment somewhere, im sure there are other ways to make more money in the military but the most conventional way is to just go do a tour somewhere. and the USAF recruiter that told you (roc boy) the Air Force is the only branch that pays for all your college is either lying his ass off or you heard him wrong. all branches do that. as well as the GI Bill which is the same for all branches. jrabbit: just because you're not in a combat zone doesn't mean you're safe, that all depends on your specific job in the military, not your branch. they are called job safety hazards.

Marine and Army have the same uniforms (excluding dress uniforms).WRONG. No. The Marines wear MARPAT uniforms, which come in Desert and Forest fatigues and were based off Canada's CADPAT. The Army wears ACU which is a universal camo(not the best, but works great in Urban and Mountain terrain). Some special forces of both brances wear Multi-Cam which in my opinion is the most effective camo.
