[QUOTE="murlow12"][QUOTE="specialedpal"] Color is what defines camouflage.. Thus making them different. Thats like saying BDU's are the same thing as the OD's. Also, Functionally they aren't the same. The ACU uses annoying velcro and a zipper to close up the blouse. The Marine camo uses the traditional buttons. On3ShotOneKill
BDUs are the same as the DCUs, just the color is different. Function is what matters.

What are you talking about? If the camo of a uniform is different than they are NOT the same. The Marine's and Army's uniforms are also made differently, so you really need to stop talking.

The ACUs and MARPATs believe it or not actually do have a slightly different pattern, and obviously color so they are different. the MARPATs have a total of 8 pockets on the uniform whereas the ACUs have 10 not including the pencil holders on the arm and the extra pocket on the inside of the cover. there are a couple other pockets im sure, but i don't ever get that close to soldiers so... ACUs are worn with a beret (pronounced buray for the dumba**es) or a round top cover. MARPATs are worn with an 8 point cover. both are worn with desert boots (i've seen people wear both 8 and 10") ACUs are worn with a tan undershirt, MARPATs are worn with a green undershirt. ACUs utilize zippers and velcro with a collar that folds up to protect the neck, MARPATs use the old school buttons with a collar that is ironed flat, basically the same as the old cammies. and last but not least, i hear everyone in the Army complain about this one, you can roll the sleeves on the MARPATs (don't you dare roll them unless they look on spot) but you can't roll the sleeves on the ACUs. there are more differences but im trying to go have a cigarette... and comparing some kids' airsoft uniforms isn't going to cut it, they aren't the same as the real cammies, trust me on this.

Well if you really are intent on joining the military.. The hardest thing to be would probably be a NAVY seal, so if you're incredibly resilient, go for that. The next hardest would probably be the Marines, you have to be extremely tough as well. Army is very tough as well, you're going to get your **** blown off in infantry. Navy, Air Force, and Coastguard are pretty laid back for most of the jobs. I'd personally join the Air Force, in case I was drafted, because it's less threatening for jobs like being a mechanic.

I think if anyones joining the army they should choose the branch they are mostly good at within their abilities. For example, if I were to join the Army (which I want but cant) I would choose something like the Army or The air force but mostly the Army.

Don't ask us. The Military is a big commitment, one that puts your life on the line. Think it though before you make a rash decision based on the opinion of a bunch of sweaty nerds on a game site who think Marines are coolest because of Aliens (myself included). Also, if you're just in it for pay, and don't want to get shot, then forget the Military buddy.enterawesome

Some of the people that posted in this thread are in the military...

And no, just because you join the military doesn't mean you're going to get shot at. There are countless jobs where you will be out of harms way. People have such a distorted view of what the military is like...

I was in the Marine Corps for 4 years as a rifleman, and I never got shot at. People are just ignorant.

It was a test and you passed. I am tired of people claiming to be in the military when they haven't (It is a federal offence).

I don't see the point in claiming to be in the military, when you haven't. Just a few questions, and you can tell who has/has not been. ;) But I'm happy to know that I passed the test. :P

the people who lie about military service don't really care that its a federal offense, they care more about looking like hot **** while trying to impress the unintelligent and chicks... trust me, i come across them every once in a while whether it be parties, restaurants, bars, theme parks, you name it. and its f*ckin gravy when i get to do the same thing to them (the whole 21 question test) only in front of someone they're trying to impress.

just stumbled across the old blog, and joined. I have friends and family in all branches, and the seabees, in particular... and I also have personal experience. Even with all the @#$&! choice words... the entry you had, made the most sense. It's one big, dedicated family... which also includes some 'family members' that you would rather not talk about. In any case, all branches have their specialties, and all have their faults, i suppose, everyone will continue to bicker amongst each other, when there isn't a common 'enemy'. Who's best?... like politics and religion, there isn't an answer... it's all opinion based. (btw, just a reminder to others, every branch has their own specific (different) uniform)

If you want a career outside the military but still want a Combat Arms MOS, join the Guard. Pays for college and then some. Not to mention you can actual have a normal life. Just gotta do Basic/AIT then one weekend a month and two weeks in the summer. But don't forget, you WILL be deployed sometime. My units deployed multiple times to Iraq/Afghanistan.

Or you can do what my friend is doing and learn logistics while you are in army. Do you know how good logistics for the military looks on a resume? :O

[QUOTE="ferrari2001"][QUOTE="specialedpal"] I know it's a branch of the Navy... You think that the Marines is the only branch in which people go through that kind of stuff? ANY combat job puts people through that kind of stress, no matter what their branch is. I think you've seen too many Marine commercials. specialedpal

actually I've talked to many marines, some who aren't to straight in the head. and Commercials aren't going to tell you the marines is very metally demanding. Sure there is stress involved, but marines intentionally break down a person, just to build them back up again ready to kill, others branches don't do quite as much as the marines do.

.....Seriously? Tell this all to an Army Infantry Soldier. Ill sit back and laugh. Can somebody pass me the popcorn?

I'm an 11 Bravo in the ARNG. This guy has no idea what he's talking about.

1. Not all marines are a Combat Arms MOS.

2. Try doing OSUT at Ft. Benning (Home of the Infantry) and then come back and talk.
