Usually just do something that requires a bit of thinking so I can stop thinking about being depressed.
Usually play a game or watch TV (music generally make it worse).
I find you just need a bit of time to get over it, and TV and games do this best because you become preoccupied.
Relaxation meditation helps to clear my head when I'm feeling down. Whack on some soft music (not necessarily whale sounds or tropical bird calls:D), lie down and just close your eyes. Sitting in a chair is another option. It's nothing space age. :) Take in deep breathes through the nose and out the mouth at first, and then ease into a natural breathing pattern. This can last for as long as 10 or 20 mins, or however long you need.
In any case, the body's natural balance is restored. I'll admit to finding it really daft at first, but it makes you feel refreshed, and able to cope with your problems better. Plus, the more that you meditate, the better you feel.
Here's some relaxing music... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQHuhcBznK0
Alternatively, listening to music is a good option. Going for a walk, as mentioned above is beneficial too, especially if it's someplace new. I sometimes like to buy DvD movies. Nothing too plot driven or heavy going. Action, comedy or trashy horror are all helpful.
I also like to visit Yahoo Answers when I'm depressed. There's always someone out there with bigger problems than you, and reading about them is pretty therapeutic. :)
I either take it out on myself (stupid) or I try to forget about it by hanging out with friends, reading a book, listening to music, going for a walk, writing, sleeping, playing a video game, etc.t3hrubikscubeHow do you take it out on yourself? Do you eat at Denny's or watch The Ring 2 or something to that effect?
