You could always have your own "private" national day to celebrate that

I care, if I had my way I would ban porn because it ruins lifes and weakens ones morals.
If you have ever watched an interview with Ted Bundy he accredits porn as a major causation for how he turned out.

So we're going to ban porn because of one person?
You do know when the religious/"moral" bloc got a hold of our laws, it was a complete and utter disaster right? That was Prohibition.

Well if a serial killer says that it influenced him... If many sex offenders are influenced by pornography you know something is wrong. It was only a disaster because we looked the other way... If there was more severe of a punishment for alcohol then the prohibition would not have been a failure. If the government regulates the internet they can stop cyber bullying, pornography, and other illegal activities. I mean do you think prohibition is a bad thing? Alcohol is a poison practically to the body and mind. 50% of automobile accidents involve it...[QUOTE="DroidPhysX"][QUOTE="Banjo_Kongfooie"]

Prohibition was the biggest disaster in our constitutional history bar none. Also your views are in direct violation (at least in the US) of the first amendment. The government cant regulate the internet to ban thins such as pornography. The Supreme Court already said the government cant ban certain types of pornography that is sold in the United States. Studies have shown alcohol in moderation gives benefits to the body and a severe punishment wont scare people away. Banning things won't solve anything. Didnt work in prohibition, would not work today.

Either the end result is an oppressive country if you go too far or it will always continue. When there is a will, there is a way. And a couple things...prohibition is a bad thing, cyber bullying is way over dramatized and the government cannot stop it...it will just turn into real life bullying, and pornography isn't illegal nor should it be because it is perfectly natural... and that's not even including violation of our inalienable rights...Prohibition bans alcohol, one of the finer accomplishments of civilization. It also caused MASSIVE crimes spikes.

How is prohibition different than outlawing Marijuana? Actually it is much better. Even the miniscule benefit that alcohol provides (which can be obtained from alternative sources) is severely outweighed by the negative impacts it has... Seriously look up murder rates involving alcohol 50%...
The Supreme Court already has ruled against the first ammendment many times and I am sure they will eventually give in to centralizing authority on a decentralized frontier (the internet)...
The constitution is an outdated document and you cannot deny this. Some parts of it are relevant but alot of what worked back then does not now... Banning "things" does work. Murder rates in European coutnries which outlaw fire arms are much lower than the US's. Fire arms should generally be given to the police to help assure that society is civilized... When you give criminals the same tools as law enforcement to fight you have a disaster in my view.

The second amendment is crystal clear in giving the citizens the right to hold firearms. 10 years ago or 100 years ago, it holds the same meaning. Also, the war on drugs in general has been a complete and utter failure like prohibition. Even Justice Antonin Scalia says the reason why federal courts are so backed up is because the ban on marijuana is ridiculously vague and unnecessary.
And no. The Supreme Court has restricted the government from banning things on the internet. A couple of years ago, the government tried to ban "Crush" videos but the Court said that was in violation of the first amendment. And this is a conservative court so the internet will be free of that type of regulations forever.
Banning guns wont do anything. Criminals get firearms through illegal ways and what happens when they break into a house. A homeowner more often than not has a gun to protect himself. Banning firearms would only hurt those people.

Pornography is an inalienable right lol? Is heroin too...?
Tell the parents of dead teenagers that cyber bullying is over dramatised... if you give people anonymity they will act like savages from my view. I think that they should at the vary least make you use your name online.
Oppressive? Or secure country? As you know the 1st ammendment has already been breached multiple times and the constitution is not set in stone.

] do we have to go into gun control now *sigh*josephl64Of course because the ban is restricted to that one city... One could easily smuggle guns from other cities...
A nation wide ban with more active enforcement would produce results... Europe says high.

As you know the 1st ammendment has already been breached multiple times and the constitution is not set in stone. your body is yours, if you trash it then it's your fault and we really are fortunate most people don't think like you...government already scans the internet...we don't need it going any farther and just because the 1st amendment isn't set in stone doesn't mean we have to change it...it does everything we need it to do and the point wasn't pornography being an inalienable right but if you read that it isn't "illegal"...and it shouldn't be banned because we will always find ways to get it and freedom of press and expression allows us to do so anyways. There is also no harm in pornography being allowed to the masses

I agree, it just makes statiscal and logical sense, take something away that people want/clamor for they will be angry... give it back theyll be happy.
