Topic, it seems that Americans are so proud but of what?/

Big League Chew.DJ_LaeWinner of the thread. :P As for the topic... this will only lead to anger. It always does. America is generally a patriotic county; it's only a small minority of people who take that too far and try to claim their country is better than anyone else's. Let's not generalise all americans like that, because that isn't the case.
Well first of all we have real football 8)
but yeah, as far education goes we have the best universities in the world. I'll let the guys in the political fields talk about our freedoms and such.
Black President ?Gh0st_Of_0nyxEven Somalia has one.
Incredible diversity and integration. There's really something for everyone. Remember, it's a big country.Engrish_MajorCanada or even UK is more diverse and too be honest America still has a large discrimination for Arabs. As well large majority is Christian.

Greece didn't have freedom and Democracy? http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/105942We were the blueprint of freedom and the rest of the world followed.

[QUOTE="Iced_Earth_Rulz"]Greece didn't have freedom and Democracy? http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/105942 The Greeks had an actual Democracy, unlike the USA, which meant that the majority could vote to oppress the minority. The US has generally done away with the masses' ability to do that, except for gay marriage and such (which is probably coming soon anyway). Basically, we took the Greeks' model and made it better. We were the blueprint of freedom and the rest of the world followed.

Anyway I went to New York last year and i got these odd looks nearly every where I get. I have never felt uncomfortable living in Canada or even when i visited England over the summer.

I said countries IN Europe. Yes, there are countries in Europe. Read it again. Anyway, there are many studies confirming what I just said. I can try to find some if you'd like. There are reasons why Spain, England, and other European countries have had homegrown Muslim terrorist movements, while the US has not. Generally speaking, Western European Muslims feel more isolated and alienated than their American counterparts.

Touche. But that was ancient times my friend. I was talking about more modern times. I'm sure other countries had good freedoms when we wrote the Constitution but America really put it on the map seeing as how we kicked the super power of the days ass. With the help of France of course. But we really didn't become a "great" country as we all know now until the 1900's.
See boy and girls...this is exactly how NOT to respond. We were the blueprint of freedom and the rest of the world followed.

No, he referred to countries being in Europe. And given the vast diversity of NYC, I suspect a selection effect.
Democracy existed for centuries before America. Sorry. >_>Touche. But that was ancient times my friend. I was talking about more modern times. Whatever.
I wasn't being serious to begin with when I said that. I knew it was silly statement when I wrote it.
But we did evolve the freedoms we all now have and take granted for.
Freedom of Speech? Which country had that at the time of the constitution.
Right to bear arms? Some countrys even today have trouble with that idea.
