There are some obvious issues that make them show their age (such as a certain fight's choreography) but you're missing out if you've never seen them.I have seen the first 2 Godfather movies mentioned. Red Beard - Although I have to admit it's been a while since I've revisited it but initially I remember this film seriously testing my patience as it revolves around very uninteresting characters.
The Kingdom (Riget) - Although technically a mini-series it tends to get presented as a 554 minute movie and despite my ability for not noticing such things once I'm into a film, it's an especially rough ride this time out as generally speaking nothing really happens until the very last act which makes it a very painful viewing experience.
Gone with the Wind - An intensely lucious color palette and stellar cinematography aren't enough to rescue bad dialogue, characters and incredibly cartoonish acting.

I love the David Lynch film, if for nothing else than the costume and set design, as well as the ambient sounds his films are notorious for. If you're not a fan of Dune (the books) or David Lynch, I can see why people don't like it.
