What is the point of racial Identity?

I mean yeah, when I'm filling something out, I'll check black because that is what I am.

But some people tell me that it's about picking the race you relate with.

Does this mean which race my personality/ lifestyle best represents?

Because I don't relate with any certain race. I relate with people who have similar ideals as me or that I like, regardless of race.

So what does this mean?

There's never an option for human race is there?

I probably wouldn't take issue with any of it. Being neither yellow nor brown.

I would be stunned though, using the word yellow to describe race is insane.

Well, a lot of Indians/people of Middle-Eastern descent have darker skin than the average Black American. So what do you call them? :P

It's not like Black People are "black" anyway. Most are light brown, and some (Will Smith, T.I., Chris Brown for example) have light golden-brown skin.

But last time I checked, no one on this planet is "yellow".

i find it interesting and weird that on some applications there's also the choice of "Other" like they couldn't list of some of the other important races in there as well
