yet you did it with huge help from us Brits in fact if you check wikipedia you will find more British soldiers took part in the battle of Normandy they also had the highest casualties and lets also not forget the Canadians who were also a big help .

If I was french, I would say conquering the entire Europe while making Moscou getting to their knees.

Assaulting a fortified beach with alerted defenders in broad daylight while having no naval artillery or close air support, failing to complete your objectives and losing 60% of your force in the process is not what I'd call a great achievement. It was a senseless waste of 8 trained regiments and should be seen as a tragedy, not celebrated as a noble sacrifice. The officers who planned the fiasco were criminally negligent and the politicians who pushed for the operation because they were desperate to get Canadian boys into the action before the Americans out of some misguided notion of national pride should've been hounded from office.

I'd say the greatest achievement was the conduct of operations in and around the Sheldt estuary in Holland, followed closely by the actions around the Gustav and Gothic lines in Italy, especially in Ortona. Honorable mention goes to the work of the RCAF in their Tiffies over Normandy.

Yeah you people really don't understand, sending me to Iraq has almost ended this war.

Hmm.. Canada's done some good stuff, don't remember most of it though. We built the first jet that could hit Mach 2,the AVRO Arrow. But thanks to one of our worst Prime Minister's ever (Deifenbaker), production was stopped and ever since we've been a pretty terrible nation for Military achievements..

i think your over stating Americas chances in that war if you had invaded Britain would have come down on you with every last military resource they had you wouldn't have stood a chance and even if we look at the war of independents Britain more or less won in fighting terms they inflicted greater casualties on you the only reason they lost was because they were outnumbered by you the French and the Dutch if you hadn't have been aided you would have lost .

I know, everyone that keeps going " America Duh!" doesn't seem to realize that almost none of these acheviments were obtained by ourselves, we have had loads of help throughout history. they kee ptalking about The revolution and 1812. before the germans and french stepped in we were getting the **** kicked out of us. and 1812 was a single war part of many in a 15 year period known as the neopolitan wars. Britain had already lost alot of soldiers and a strained economy and such by the time we went to war, yet they still burnt the white house to the ground. of they hadn't already been at war for almost a decade they would have stomped all over us.
