Snowy winter > cool spring > cold autumn > Portuguese summer
warm autumn > rainy winter > cold spring > Portuguese summer
Snowy winter > dutch summer > cool spring > rainy autumn
Dutch summer > warm autumn > rainy winter > cold spring
I could go on but you get my point...my preference depends on where I am and how the season behaves.
(Funny that there's 4 votes in the poll and it's 1 in each option at the moment)
summer on the other hand... <3
...can be working in an office with no air conditioning while wearing a full suit and it's 40C in the shade...welcome to Portugal!
@BiancaDK: It's horrible...outside of hotels we don't have many places with AC, and when you breathe in it's like you're breathing fire. I always had a fan in my room blowing straight at my face all night...one night it was so hot that when I woke up I realised it had been blowing really hot wind at me and my face hurt like hell...went to a mirror and it looked like someone had poured boiling water on one side of my face.
@korvus: good lord ... !
i must have had it easy then, 'cos whereas i totally did notice the punishing heat in portugal, i was preoccupied dodging eggs being thrown from kids camping various inner-city rooftops with trays of eggs
your country is madness!
@BiancaDK: Where did you go? Never heard of that...was it some sort of holiday or were they just being jerks?
@korvus: unfortunately i can't recall the name of the city, it was very big and buzzling and all the drivers drove like hell
like, seriously, the traffic ... I have nightmares to this very day
oh the kids were just being kids <3 i woulda done the same with a pasty white tourist
@BiancaDK: It was either Lisbon or you haven't seen heavy traffic. You know it's bad when you're stuck in traffic so long you turn your car off and you go sit in the shade...also, everyone is mad as hell all the time XD
@BiancaDK: Come to the Netherlands...you'll have plenty of strangers approaching you to let you know what's wrong with the way you look/dress/talk/carry yourself and provide a helpful list of ways in which you can improve yourself and therefore not be a nuisance to others. Lovely.
@BiancaDK: It happens to me all the time, especially if they hear me speak English...then it gets really ugly =P
@korvus: just start screaming about how hungry you are in portugese they will not understand but will be to scared to react :D
"Holy crap! See? Told you the Turks were going to flip out eventually! This is why we shouldn't allow the foreigners in!"
@BiancaDK: A lot of Dutch people (especially in the South, or so I'm told) have a really f'ed up definition of honesty...anywhere else in the world if I approached you and said "That hair is horrible...you really need to do something about it...anything would be better than that" it'd be extremely rude and I might end up getting punched in the face...here it's fine...you can say anything as long as you're being honest (of course people still take offense, but they'll do it to others as well). Then some people take it even further and decide that you NEED to say everything that comes into your mind because if you don't it's dishonesty...
That's why I love the Dutchies in this forums; they're all so nice and polite =D I think it gets better the more contact you have with other cultures. Might also be why I do better with Dutch people from the North, lots of big cities up there so they're used to different cultures.
Fall, and October is my favorite month. In my area September and October have more perfect weather days than any other months. More great memories of those months in college as well, and October ends with Halloween, a great party holiday.
Oh and Baseball playoffs in fall.
