And metal isn't? You need to train your ears, or perhaps you're tone deaf? Maybe just ignorant?
The guitar is usually what does it for me. I always appreciate a good guitar solo.
I love the guitar work in Children of Bodom, so that's one reason why I love them.
Sometimes I like the way the vocals sound over the music. For example, there's a song by Wintersun called Beyond The Dark Sun. There isn't an amazing guitar solo or anything, but I think the vocals sound cool, so that's why I like it.
Well I'm going to assume you attempted English there... I like metal because... well... you'd be surprised they amount of talent, emotion, thought and time actually goes into producing it. No to mention metal in a whole isn't overall a mainstream, money-grubbing genre that's in it for just that. The profit gain and the worldwide fame. The vast majority of metal I listen to plays music for the music. I'd like to find someone actually listen to a full song by Opeth and tell me they dislike the band. it's practically impossible. And yes, that's a hint to go do so. Choose any song you like. They're all different. :)And DONT tell me the lyrics because anyone can google that.

It's the same thing when you see the old joke of people listening to old pop music and then someone starts playing rock and roll and the old people are going "?!?!?!?!? MY EARS!". You're the old people in this case.

I find that hard to believe. Deep down you like either a song or portions of their songs. They incorporate just about every type of real music talent out there into the greatest thing today. Starters, I bet it was from their more recent albums. I bet you have not touched or even looked at Blackwater Park, Orchid or Damnation.[QUOTE="MissRiotmaker"][QUOTE="Kash_1095"]Well I'm going to assume you attempted English there... It's hard to believe they are so highly praised.
it doesn't appeal to me, I'm not angry at anything, I'm just chill and laid back, and the music I listen to really shows in my personality.TheBigTicket21I listen to metal everyday and I'm the most laid back person I know. Well, maybe not the most, but I'm very close.
No. I won't explain. You don't even understand the genre at all. It would be like trying to convince Nas that hip hop takes no talent. Pointless.dracula_16
if you're talking trash about nas, then you don't have good taste in music.god, people on this site will always take a chance to bash hip-hop

Metal is an acquired taste but a great one at that.
I do not believe anyone starts life off headbanging to Opeth. For me I started on the usual nu-metal, then got into industrial metal a little (mainly Static-X), and now my 3 fav subgenres are melodeath, thrash, and math metal.
There is a great amount of musicianship in metal, at least good metal that is. Everytime I put on an Opeth song I simply get blown away. The writing is just incredible (Listening to Blackwater Park in its entirety is an incredible experience) and each song is like a journey. Not everyone has to enjoy Opeth (Well with how heavy their songs get at parts that is completely understandable) but I will be damned if anyone tries and insult that band. They write some incredible music and every person in that band is insanely talented. Hell, I personally think Mikael Akerfeldt is one of the all-time greatest vocalists. To sing great cleanly or to growl great are 2 things, but to be able to do each vocal ****SO WELL is incredible.
Metal just isn't something thats for everyone in all honesty. You either get it or don't, doesn't make you any better or worse of a person.

Yeah, seriously Opeth actually CALMS ME DOWN even when he is growling!
I will admit that metal can also double as a great stress reliever when you just wanna scream. If I ever get really ticked, this song always helps.

Lol at the grammar of the title. And the type of metal where they scream their heads off is called death metal or screamo. Power metal is better to listen to.WushuFighterNot really. Opeth is officially classified as Scandinavian Death Metal. However their jazz, blues and other vast influences makes it feel anything but. Sure they've got the obvious death growls such is death metal but that isn't the only style they do. I absolutely recommend them to everyone and anyone. There's something there for you all. Whether it's light and melodramatic, heavy and fast, deep and powerful, or anything that isn't mentioned.

Screamo never has been and never will be a sub-genre of Metal.

Awesome movie.
I listen to it for the sound of it. The vocals and guitar and drums being "technical" or "heavy" don't really get to me, it's just the way it sounds. I like a lot of music, though, so I just like the sound of things TBH.

Explain. Please do. At least show some supporting proof towards your claim. Akerfeldt is on hell of a lyricist. He's one hell of a singer. They put together some extremely amazing music.Opeth is too emotional and difficult to listen to due to how boring they come across. Very "wimpy". Opeth is also increasingly becoming the new metal band for hipsters to listen after they begin to get tired of In Flames and Lamb of God. I won't go as far to say that Opeth is metal for girls, but it's pretty damn close. But don't mind me. I probably don't listen to metal with the same mindset as you.
Its hard to describe my love for metal. It was the first stuff I listened to 9 years ago and I thought "this is really good, I like this " (I was 6 btw) And as I got older I moved on from Thrash Metal (Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer) and Heavy Metal onto other genres such as Melodic Death Metal (In Flames). A person once asked me "doesn't it make you angry though?" and I replied with "Not really angry, but its kind of like an adrenalin shot. Just the fast beats of the drums and lightning quick solos make you want to thrash your head about until you dislocate it. It intoxicates my body." That is why I love it and it appeals to me.
