I like Metal for many reasons, though the lyrics and guitar wok appeal to me the most. It has a certain power and energy to it, its hard to explain, It just makes me want to bang my head. It gives an adrenaline rush of sorts. Metal is also a very varied genre of music, with many different sub genres and there is a huge range of different bands out there to suit different tastes, whether you may growling or smooth vocals, fast or heavy guitar work etc. Metal is not confined to Death Metal alone.
Its funny how people who dont listen to metal assume its all screamy and angry, although tbh i used to think the same until i listened to some. Prehaps if more metal got into mainstream radio people would appreciate it more.rb2610
The only Metal I don't get is Heavy Metal or Death Metal. To me, it honestly just sounds like screaming and loud noise. But don't bash me because I do like Rock, Metal and Alternative :P
I like it because its loud and nice to listen to, and it annoys the **** out of people on a bus or in cla.ss.
You stereotype Metal fans as a bunch of white dudes, screaming, head-banging, wearing tight pants.
But I can easily throw a stereotype back at rappers...they were poor, so they started to think of words that rhymed in their head, and they wrote them down on paper. One day they got some money, started up their own label and tried to get their "music" out to the world. Once they got big, and had lots of money, they went out and blew it on "bling", escalades and hummers.
Rap just isn't appealing to me...it seems extremely boring. And is usually all about how much their life use to suck.
Get this: like all music, its a personal taste. Sweeping generalisations about white dudes screaming aren't winning you any points for having rsearched your material, butch. Theres a lot of variety in all genres of music, if you don't like it nobodys going to be able to say "I like it because of this" and suddenly convert you to the cause.
I don't know about other people but heavy guitar lines and the guy screaming his head off gets me pumped up as hell. As long as the song has an overall stable melody instead of just pure chaos I like it.
well just because you dont like heavy guitar or probly fast guitar either. and you dont like scream bands not all metal is like tht there are many difrent kinds
Okay, I'll tell you what appeals to me in Children of Bodom. I love Alexi's solos and guitar playing (I love how he writes songs). I also love how his vocals sound, it's just awesome. And Janne's keyboarding is so awesome, he writes some amazing stuff too. If you don't see the appeal to metal or rock, then that's your problem, not mine and may I ask, what do you see in rap?

I understand all the talent emotion and stuff that goes into it. I just dont see the appeal of the sound. Like to me it's gotta sound good not kill my ears.

That's the idea. At the time when it came about, there was nothing that was real, powerful stuff. The appeal comes from the heavy, punch in the face it gives you. Maybe you just have different tastes. It's all good. :)
the appeal to me is the energy it has. I don't give a **** if its tr00 metal or not. If it has energy (and more importantly vocals that aren't irratating to me) then I enjoy it.
I mostly enjoy death metal growling because its powerful, and sounds immortal sometimes.
