Well I have a theory that before the big bang, we had another universe, and before that universe we had another big bang, and then another universe and so on for infinity. the universe recycles itself and its energy (that includes life) for all eternity. But thats just a theory.

If that was answered, you'd ask what was before that, then what was before that - and so on, some things are best left not answered..

There's no way to empirecly prove. My personal belief is that God existed beforehand. Others have other opinions/beliefs.

How many is that? I know there's a billion christians. There's also a billion muslims who would believe in big bang, etc since it's in koran if they are educated enough. I guess most of the pagan religions?

And Krayzie, yup, God is the Universe, but people like giving him human-like qualities which is funny.

It took 4.5 billion years for intelligent life to pop up on Earth. The Universe is only 13.5 billion years old. And we only popped up because a Comet came down and took the dinosaurs out of the picture. Given the relative young age of our Universe It is quite possible we are the only intelligent species in the universe. The first species, that is. Given enough time many more may appear. But remember, someone had to be first and there remains the depressing possibility that we are the First and thus only Intelligent species currently in this Universe.

In such a case one could reasonably say that if god does exsist he would put all of his attention on our planet.

I'm not 100% sure on all the facts, but I do know that it has a lot to do with black hole science, so i'd look further into that if you're interested. I think it's supposed to be that in a black hole none of the laws of science or physics really apply and so all matter is sort of sucked into the center and when a black hole dissipates it leaves a tiny object containing all of the matter that was absorbed into the black hole (i believe Hawking's new theories say that this matter is transported to a parallel universe or something), similar to the object that exploded in the big bang theory. So, I'd assume that before the big bang the entire universe was like a huge, massive black hole... but i guess that doesn't answer the question of what the universe was like before THAT.

But that's absurd. Even though it took 4.5 billion years for intelligent life to pop up on Earth, who says the same didn't happen somewhere else earlier? Meaning maybe some other form of life are a billion or some million years more advanced than us? Remember that really intelligent life, well, homo-sapiens, aren't that old, Neanderthals became extinct in Europe approximately 24,000 years ago only.

Because it's very hard for life itself to pop up, let alone intelligent life! It took 4.5 BILLION years for intelligent life to pop up on earth and that only happened because of the happenstance of a Comet ramming into us TWICE. mammals were able to become the dominant species (And as far as the fossil record goes, dinosaurs werent even close to getting intelligent which may lend credence to the theory that only mammals can become intelligent species.).

The rarity of solar sytems like ours, the difficulty of life being established, and the fact that there are so many natural disasters like black holes and comets that could destroy any planet that does get life on it, and the fact our Universe is very young (only 13.5 billion years old) it is a POSSIBILITY that we are the first intelligent species in the universe.

I'm not gonna fall for your "belief", and you can't convince me.

What belief? I think i took a relatively neutral stance in that post...

All this talk of 'intelligent species' is bunk. Dolphins, horses, dogs, cats, birds, octopii, elephants, great apes, are all intelligent, most are capable of symbolic communications and utilising tools for some purpose. Homo sapiens aren't even the first HIGHLY intelligent species on earth. The Neanderthals were, and before that many other unique human-like animals that could use fire etc.

As for the big bang, if there is no answer as to it's reason for occuring, then why come up with a ludicrous one like 'god did it'? Why must have 'god done it'? Can't some people just accept that what is currently unknown must stay that way until enough data is collected and interpreted until it is known? Why can't they just live with that? Why create temporary fables? The bible is full of them, all religious texts are, just incorrect interpretations of reality. I would rather live with no answer than one I know is made up and therefore most probably wrong.

The reason so many believe in god is the same reason we research science. We as a race of men have a yearning for answers to the universes mysteries. We can not accept "Wait a hundred years and your answers will come". While i personally believe there is a god (though it is a conclusion i have come to on my own, not a belief forced upon me), there is a distinct reason we can't just accept not knowing and fall to things like religion.

Well think of all the matter in the universe as energy because energy equals mass times the speed of light squared (E=MC^2) If you think of it that way it puts a different perspective on it. But the law of conservation of energy says that matter can not be created or destroyed, or so we think. We don't know that is true. Testing things like that can only be proved false because we haven't explored all possibilities and we couldn't possibly.

People believe the big bang, and someone made up that idea, believing God made everything is more easy to believe then than the big bang.

That is true but the big bang is based on evidnce collected from all sorts of different types of information. The Bible is based on nothing. Someone wrote it hundreds or thousands of years ago, I don't know. It was probably a good, believable solution back then, but times have changed and technology has evolved enough to give us a basic understanding of what sorts of thing happen in our universe. Granted I don't know for a fact that the big bang happened, I don't want people telling me that godABSOLUTLY created Earth and everything else in the universe because you don't know. Let's just agree to disagree and be friends. And by you I mean all people who try to force their beliefs on to other people and people who take the Bible literally and word for word. The Bible needs to be taked as a way to live your life with good morals and nothing more.
