1. The sun is always aligned with the center of the Milky Way. 2. The Earth's 26,000 year wobble doesn't have a fixed date of completion--a circle does not have a beginning. Right now we are completing one wobble from precisely 26,000 years ago. Dec 21, 2012 loses its meaning in this category. 3. 2012 will have increased solar activity. 4. 2012-ish is around the coming of the Age of Aquarius. To me, this is what the Mayans were talking about, and keep in mind that we only have four Mayan documents in existence. The rest were destroyed by the Conquistadors.CptJSparrow

In Astrology, there are ages relative to each of the Zodiac. We are currently in the age of Pisces. The Age of Aquarius is supposedly going to be a time of valuing knowledge and a time where humans lead their own destiny.[QUOTE="FireKicks"][QUOTE="Tuky06"][QUOTE="FireKicks"]For those who aren't aware of the significance of this date, The ancient Mayans used their advance knowledge of Mathematics and Astronomy and calculated how long the Earth will rotate around the sun.
For whatever reason their calculations could not exceed past December 21st, 2012.
What has been PROVEN to occur ON THAT DATE by todays Scientists (to coincide with the Mayans calculations) is that the Sun will be in perfect alignment with the Milky Way Galaxy AND the Earth will complete a wobble on it's axis (AKA Precession). This event only occurs once every 26 000 years.
Mayans prophesized the end of the world on this date but I think it will be a new beginning, something that will change our lives and the way people live. WHO KNOWS MAN!
We may aswell keep on doing what we're doing till that day

First, the sun we know is inside the miky way.
Second, we may die if Earth rotates at that speed for the strong winds,
Third, I agree something may happen that day.
Yes the SUN IS INSIDE THE MILKY WAY GALAXY, and by perfect alignment I meant to say that the sun will be in the exact CENTER of the Galaxy on that day
That may take billions of years, since our solar system is positioned at the very edge of the milkyway.
uhm i live in cancun and there are still mayans here, their calendar ends on 2012 but they never said taht the world would end that day that's just an assumption[QUOTE="bigmit37"][QUOTE="CptJSparrow"]1. I thought the age of Pisces ended in the year 2600.

I watched a show on the History channel about this. Apparently a lot of ancient tribes predicted this. I heard another theory that the Earth could get sucked into a black hole in the milky way. Tis scary stoof...I dun wanna blow up :(
screw the mayans.. are they even here now? for them their world ended centuries ago. for them their calender was way off.. they can predict the end of the world but they cant see the spanish are coming?
