What books do you plan to read in the near future? Here are some of mine:

War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy

The Life of Pi by Yann Martel

The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

The Ghost by Robert Harris

Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (and its sequels if I like it) by Stieg Larsson

East of Eden by John Steinbeck

The Godfather by Mario Puzo

Green by Ted Dekker

The Aeneid by Virgil

Right now I am looking for more war books. I have no names, and I just pick them up in library's and second hand book shops whenever.

My grandfather recently read this series of books on WWII by Winston Churchill; if you can find them, I bet you'd like them.

I've got a crapload of books to read at the moment but I doubt I'll get started on one for a while. I'm planning on reading "The Legacy of Heorot" next, though.

Still haven't gotten around to reading Catcher In The Rye. Also A Game Of Thrones. I remember a bunch of people on here raving about it so I thought about getting it until I found out the other week that my dad actually has all the books. He's like, this is the book I've been trying to get you to read for the last few years.

The Lost - Dan Abnett Beyond good and evil - Friedrich Nietzsche I have a few others that i could read if i have nothing else, though these are the only ones that i actively want to read. I'ld like to read another computing book (though not a manual) along the lines of Weaving the Web.

Catcher in the Rye is good but it may seem not relevant to you depending on your age (still give it a read, parts of it are oddly hilarious) but you might want to give Perks of Being a Wallflower by Chbosky. Many reviews of the book will/should tell you its a similar coming of age story for a more modern time. Not quite up to the age of cell phones and stuff but relevant enough that you might be able to relate to the characters more and you might identify more with the protagonist and his friends.

I'm terrible with reading. But, if I have to think of some things:

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand

Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger

The Napoleon of Notting Hill by GK Chesterton

...

I need to read more. A lot more.

I'm a huge Lost fanatic, and when I goon Lost forums, I see a lot of people compare Lost to Stephen King's The Dark Tower series, so I've been thinking about trying those books. Has anybody read them and are they any good?

I've read a lot though, and I suggest if you like fantasy, or anything with magic, read the Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks, or if you like zombies or horror, read Briane Keene. Or if you like horror comedy, read John Dies at the End. Hopefully you won't be disappointed :)

The Life of Pi by Yann Martel

Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane

Theokhoth

Life of Pi was excellent! Except I did find the first 80 pages kinda boring as Pi just kinda rambled about all his religions. Also I'm kind of interested in reading Shutter Island. I feel like the psychological nature of the story would translate into a much better book than movie.Right now I'm reading Fellowship of the Ring (which I haven't read since like grade 3), then I will read Two Towers followed by Return of the King, all of which are by J R Tolkien. After that I have no clue probably 1984 by George Orwell.

You can stay in for 80 pages without getting bored? :o I can barely stay in 10 when I'm bored with it without going "screw this crap, I'm watching tv".

I'm currently reading Angels & Demons, and I'd like to find Shutter Island. I just think I'd really like it. I also want to read the second installment of Dean Koontz's Frankenstein. Then the third, of course :P Technically though, I am currently reading about 6 different books... I always start reading a book, then start another, do other stuff, start another one, completely forget about one altogether... I am horrible for that. So I end up reading about 2 or 3 books a year. I am kind of the same with movies too, I watch about 3 or 4 movies a month. It's hard for me to sit and watch / read something... I always have to be doing something... I hate it... the only time I can sit down and read a book is when I'm dosed down on sleeping pills, or sped up on pseudoephedrine (kind of like caffeine, without the jitteryness, found in cough syrup)....... I suck. If anyone has any tips on this, I'd be happy to hear them :P

I'm reading Siddhartha right now and it's awesome. The Grapes of Wrath is one of my favorite books ever; it's seriously a contender for "Best American Book ever written" as far as I'm concerned.

Infinite Jest...that is a dense one, but worth the read. Waiting for Godot is sooo good!! :) Have you ever read Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead? That's a great play as well. I just can't get into the Wheel of Time. I may have to because I've head Sanderson's writing is excellent. My boyfriend has read all of them, but I couldn't make it past the third or fourth.

I'm not religious, however my parents really enjoy listening to a guy named John MacArther (I think that's how you spell it), and I'm pretty sure he's written some books as well.
