[QUOTE="DivergeUnify"]I'm listening to Kill 'Em All right now and I'm actually liking it quite a bit so far. About to finish Motorbreatheffena

Do you think that album sounds kind of punk, like an old school misfits album or something?

I just saw that post of yours, haha. Maybe not Misfits( well, a little), but more Minor Threat or Black Flag, yeah

[QUOTE="cyberdarkkid"]BTW DivergeUnify the only song you might find boring in KEA will be Seek And Destroy.DivergeUnify
Already heard it a couple times. Have no opinion on it, really. I'm going out in a few minutes, but I'll give you more impressions later :P Also, I like Pantera quite a bit. They're considered Thrash?

They're Groove Metal, and they were Glam on their early albums

[QUOTE="nimatoad2000"][QUOTE="FFCYAN"]Ugh. Make up your mind already!:P Metallica is awesome, let's just leave it at that.

except that on KEA james' balls were still in the process of dropping, but if you really to hear him sound like a girl, no life till leather / the other demo's... quite funny.

Despite being one of the biggest Metallica fans, I have yet to hear No life till' Leather. He did sound a little funny in the Cliff Em All videos when Dave was still with them.

get no life till leather, but make sure to get the origianal version that came from rob the orig bass player, the way you'll know its the real one is that the last track will be " james and rob's unfinished song" theirs many no life till leathers that are ripped from like... 12th gen casettes, rob's is strait from the master. anyways, no life till leather the good version sounds almost as good as KEA quality wise, the songs are all a bit faster, and daves solo's are better than kirks, faster and some are longer. i listen to NLTL over KEA all the time. and the mechanics is very fun and nostalgic to listen to... the NLTL versions of phantom lord / seek and destroy / hit the lights are all very good.. shoot.. its all really good.. its dave playing and faster.. what else do you want?

Sounds good. To me, speed isn't everything, but I think Dave is one of the best guitarist around. Kirk's playing is more varied though.

are you serious? all kirks playing is going up and down the fretboard really fast with solo's and doing pentatonic scales. james wrote all metallica's songs that dave didnt , and with black and post, theirs a interview with bob rock and lars in some documentary saying they would tell kirk how they wanted solo's to sound like... the only song kirk wrote was creeping death, a good song, but cmon its one song, and pretty much every song on the first 4 megadeth albums are better than creeping death minus liar , 502 and mary jane from SFSGSW. but seriously.. kirks solo's are just speed up and down, soo boring.

check this dyer's eve video from this year, he scrapes the solo. he cant keep up with the speed so he stops and comes back in. he messes up 3 times ON HIS OWN SOLO!!!!!!!!.. id like to see him cry while trying to play tornado of souls and fail.

He's only human. Kirk was told how to play, yes. But it wasn't that way forever. He worked with Joe Satriani to expand his sound which is evident in later albums, and has a very bluesy sound in Load and Reload(which I care not your opinions on:P, just know that I loved Load and some of Reload). Dave is a master of the technical side of metal and has aindredible sense of his craft. Let's be honest though, he's only really interested in metal.

Just like I said in the Thrash Metal Union:

Because its fast, dirty, aggressive, fun, violent, destructive, humurous, evil, juvenile, angry, loud and skull splitting and neck breaking music that should be the staple diet of every Metalhead.

I still enjoy his solos though. BTW Broderick owns both Kirk and Mustaine technically and he can bust Tornado of Souls solo perfectly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0k8holIGTU Now is up to the new album to tell if he's better than Friedman

so far broderick hasnt proven to me that he is a good musician. he is more technically proficient than marty friedman, but what i mean is that he hasn't written any good music or solo's in jag panzer or anywhere else. i saw a couple jag panzer solo's and was dissapointed honestly.. it was just fast up and down the neck stuff.. i have no question of his skills, but musical composition is another thing.. when it comes to friedman, after listening to all his solo work, i can come to the conclusion that he is an ace at atmosphere and mood, but his overall song writing is not too hot. his solo's are beutiful, but if you listen to dragon's kiss, the riffs and rest of songs are just average for a virtuoso... chris poland on the other hand , his jazz fusion band is awesome , and i love his work with megs. i think i put him above friedman overall though.

when it comes to writing thrash riffs, imo no one beats dave mustaine, were excluding solo's here, their is no thrash metal band with better riffs than megadeth, both technically, and imo memorably. that is why he was #1 metal guitarist in that one dudes book :P

@ FFCYAN - he's not only into metal, he went into pop rock kinda stuff as he went twards risk, he also says a lot of times in interviews that he loves ****cal music, jazz and ****c rock.

The riffs are energetic and addictive. The singing can take some getting used to, but it's an excellent way for the bands to portray their emotion and frustration and it's a great way to really get their point across. I also like thrash because it's metal with a message (for the most part, there are some bands that sing about random stuff though). It's just great, usually technical, energetic, heavy, and addictive music. Of course it's not for everyone though.

I was a teen growing up in the 80's. I learned to play guitar in '88. The power chords, the palm muting, the pentatonic scale, Death Angel, Kreator, Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Suicidal Tendancies, Candlemass, Megadeth, Rigor Mortis, DRI, Crucifux, Big Black, The Mentors, Exodus, DK, damn, it was a very influential time for a teen!

Its energetic and fun. Yes it can be boring considering its one of the least technical of the metal genres unlike Death Metal and doesnt have much of an atmosphere like Black Metal, but its fun stuff.

Thrash is very technical

I love thrash as much as any other guy in the TTDU but compared with otehr genres, not really. Not to say technical or progressive thrash doesn't exist, but in its "pure" form its just meant to be played fast and simple, hence its name thrash, and also it takes from the speed metal and punk roots of that fast, simplistic nature.

Also, what do you think of the new D666 song? Something doesn't feel right to me with it.
