[QUOTE="Good-Apollo"]I don't understand where people get the notion that Islam is a peaceful religion from, it was born from an extremely bloody period in history. It's an extremely archaic religion.Dark_Knight6

The same could be said about Christianity. Take a moment, leaf through the Bible, and count the violent verses.

Don't I know this, which is why I'm anti religious.

In short, the whole "Christians can't practice their religion freely in Islamic countires" is a load of crap, since here in Gaza which some of you may consider it radical, fundemantalists...etc Christians have churches, centers, schools and whatever the hell they want. even at my university, which is called "The ISLAMIC university of Gaza" we have christians students and we get along perfectly.GazaAli

That "Christians can't practice their religion freely in Islamic countires" serves as an incredibly poor arugement against the mosque being built. If another country has laws agaisnt freedom of religion, that does not change the fact that America allows freedom of religion. This is all in addition to what you have said, by the way.

agreed. (i know you weren't talking to me) but my post was to show that there are churches, many of whom are recent ones. wasn't trying to make the argument "if we can't do it there we shouldn't allow it here" rather was just showing that there are such places of worship in the Muslim world.

in short we are disproofing an already invalid argument, just for the heck of it.

Yeah I agree with this. Being anti-religious is no better than a muslim being anti-christian. It's just a different kind of intolerance, but you're being hypocritical.

I was agreeing with your post and making an addition. That being, there is no legal basis for being against the building of the mosque. Essentially, the fear of the Islam religion is, for lack of a better word, silly.

No, I'm not, I'm just merely demonstrating that we shouldn't be tolerant of everything in this world.

If you think this is bad, wait until a dirty bomb goes off, or even worse, a nuke.

There will be death camps.

Islam is far far far from a tolerant religion, so this attempt to display 'tolerance' is really in vain.

It's more of a victory mosque for the 9/11 hijackers. A living memorial to the killers, and a slap in the face of all those that never went home to their families on that day.
