@missL I think my opinion of him should be obvious to you. You are smart enough to gather that much. This seems like a case of you wanting me to say it just to say it. Fine: TBH I thought him to be just another sad child among the many here on GS = not really fair to mess with Then I found out he was an adult and a military vet = all bets are off (you are an adult and at least have the cognitive functioning to get into the military) I enjoy messing with people...you know this It was quite easy given his black and white stance on the world, his GS obsessions, etc As for the 'why' I found it humorous for a grown ass man and military vet to care so deeply for a GS level...to not be able to handle himself in even the simplest of debates...to have to resort to 'tattling'...to take things to AtM constantly b/c he was unable to cope on his own...that it freaked him out b/c people tracked his private account (it was private before anything TDH related) I enjoy poking people in the ribs and watching someone troll themselves. Tops and Mailer (both grown people) provide the perfect examples of how not to deal with situations like thisrawsavon
My point in all of this is not to understand the situation (though, thank you for the compliment, I am intelligent enough and - more importantly nosy enough - to have tried to garner as much of an understanding as I can although I'll be the first to admit I know very little aside from major points that have happened).
This is not about 'me' but rather me belief that it is important to quite a few people (and one particular person in this instance) that you are honest and face the music like everyone else. Following targeted trolling some users like Topsemag and Mailer, and even LJ to an extent, can hardly be in a particularly fair position to utilise OT's new ability to question your actions if every statement they make will be lost in blanketed derision. Hopefully someone is reading these admissions from you who needs to hear them more than I do.
You and I share a more honest history of sorts so I hoped I could question you fairly without fear of being instantly dismissed. Though I will try to keep my posts short (pfffffft).
In response: What you are basically saying is that - aside from the root of your trolling these people being down to a search for amusement in the course of the daily work grind, a general daily activity that I can hardly condemn though I wouldn't go to such extreme lengths personally, either way it's not the important point here - you chose Topsemag as a target because out of the wide choice of everyday 'well-known' individuals here he in particular caught your attention because of the way he happens to do things in particular.
His stricter outlook, his investing time in leveling up, his inclination to take it to the mods and admins rather than joining in the ToU dance that others (myself included of course) preferred to partake in... They not even annoying personal traits like you find in blantant newbish and bad trollers, they're more tied in to his chosen way of using GS to pass the time. But how is that any different from you doing silly petty things in order to pass time also? His actions might be different from yours but that doesn't mean that you're not both guilty of it.
I'll admit that when it comes to leveling I did wonder why Topsemag was so into it myself at times, though certainly not in the same sort of derisive way, and I'll be the first to admit my conduct concerning him has not always been innocent troll-wise - the truth of which Topse knows in full and also, in a random twist, does cybrcatter of course to some extent. However I had only to share a few PMs with him before I fully understood where he is coming from, why he chooses to do things the way he does, and why he bothers with learning about GS leveling. It wasn't exactly hard and knowing your interest in psychology and anthropology I am sure you would have easily cottoned on to if only you had taken the time to find out.
The way that you fed on his desire to just stay away from you guys really is distasteful in my eyes, the more he relied on his particular way of dealing with things the more you goaded and baited him, and having a force of 30 or more users again just one like Topsemag is obviously unfair even to a brutish sports fan like you, surely.
You are always pulling your ersatz innocence routine and claiming deniability because of this or that technicality, and mostly post-by-post I have been more amused than offended by it I admit, but when you denied blatant actions like ordering TDH to track Topse it really did lower you in my estimation, I am sorry to say.
Did you really think that someone like Topsemag could fairly argue his case when bound by the strict ToU? Do you even have even the smallest understanding of what you are even doing most of the time? There was always going to come a time when you'd have to admit your actions and due to my wordsmithing freedom unleashed by your new ToU (thanks for fighting the good fight, btw) that time is now.
Are you willing to be honest and admit here and now all of the things TDH did to Topsemag? Tracking and that Dave's guy's involvement included, I want to know it all. I would ask you to be completely honest about all of the users you have cruelly focused on but even I would admit that could grow tedious.
