[QUOTE="Toxic-Seahorse"] Having a military base isn't the same as governing a distant foreign people.Hexagon_777

I know its not the same but think about this. there are approximately 192 countries. there are 737 US military bases around the world (this is just how many they admit to and doesn't take into account the many black sites they have scattered around). from an active-duty force of 1.4 million soldiers, the US has deployed some 350,000 to at least 130 foriegn countries. no country in the history of the world has ever had a global presence like this. and that stretch of land where bases are set up is american land. america basically strong-armed japan after the war to give them a big chunk of okinawa, and now they want more to build new developments (hence all the controversies currently going on down there). having a military presence like this in every country is a middle finger and shows you who's boss. they may not be completely taking over and governing the people, but its a subtle form of expansion.
Â
america is ready to go to war anytime, anywhere, with anyone.
That's disgusting. Got any sources for the US wanting more Japanese land?Â
they wanted to build a new airstrip in okinawa but there's been a LOT of pushback by the locals. i'm not sure if its still going down as planned. in 2010 there was a rally with over 90,000 protestors objecting to this
