*smiles* who else hopes that Kanye voted for Obama right now?
why should it matter? There are jackasses everywhere. Is Obama supposed to support Kanye because he voted for him?:| It's called irony...

[QUOTE="-Sun_Tzu-"] I know they haven't been leaked because there haven't been any reports of leaked pre-interview conversations after pretty much every interview Obama has given before this one, unless you have evidence to the contrary. LJS9502_basicWell now you didn't provide any evidence and you made the initial statement. Truth is...you don't know.;) As an aside.....I see it's spawned a huge meme battle now. Well that's how you prove a negative through inductive reasoning.
No evidence of reporters regularly leaking "pre-interview" conversations
Therefore; there is no reason to believe that "pre-interviews" are regularly leaked
That's a perfectly sound line of reasoning, unless however there is evidence of reporters regularly leaking the contents of "pre-interview" conversations, which doesn't seem to be the case.
And yes, there does appear to a new meme on teh interwebz, and it seems to have brought the lulz with it.

I'm sorry, but that just crosses the line. Even if the context is joking, there is absolutely nothing funny about the Oklahoma City Bombing or the events of September 11, 2001.

apparently not, will you explain it please? :)[QUOTE="duxup"][QUOTE="xaos"] Definitely not how journalism works; there is on the record and off the record; if that wasn't the case, ABC wouldn't have needed to issue an apology.LJS9502_basicDid ABC issue an apology? Anyway yeah off the record usually stays that way. Most reporters value that relationship. I still don't get the big deal. Taxpayer money? Would it matter if he said to his wife before bed "man that Kanye is a jackass". Would that cost more?I'd rather he concerned himself with the country.....he was in an official capacity at the time...not in bed. Nonetheless, his opinion on entertainment is not important to start with....so why care what he called Kanye? he was just asked it at a press conference. he probly just saw the clip on the internet or his daughter told him about it.
No one is safe from Kanye.

The best, hands down. Others pale in comparison.
And Kanye was always a dick. That's how he got famous, and why all of America is talking about him, over something that has NO effect on their lives.
God Bless America!

Thus is the paradox of public office. Every single one of his movements will be analyzed and criticized because he is in the public eye. He is our president, after all. He (supposedly) represents us, thus news agencies will always try to follow him to extoll his glories or, in the case of Fox, extoll his flaws.

Nonetheless, I don't care that he chats....just that this has been blown up way too much what with presidents weighing in on an award show on MTV of all places. I've gotten tired of hearing about it already. You decide? That seems unlikely. Folks looking to complain about this need some perspective. That is some desperate begging for something to complain about there.

What does being tired of hearing about it have to do with your complaint about tax dollars? How much did that cost?

The thing is I'm fairly certain Obama knew what he was getting into when he chose to run for president. Well, given the President's annual salary of $300,000 and LJS' implication that the President is always on duty, that comes to pay of 0.95 cents per second. Drawling out "Kanye was a jackass as slowly as I could, it took about 4 seconds, so given that, we can assume that this cost about 3.8 cents of taxpayer money. Yay math!Oh I don't doubt people are going to complain. That doesn't justify it or make it any less silly. I'm going to take a wild stab that plenty of presidents have spoken off the record, and it has stayed there. Let's say Obama traveled to the south during segregation and got beat down for protesting. Knowing he could get beat up, does that make it right just because you expect it might happen? My point is the argument that just because we expect someone to be under a microscope doesn't make any complaints related to being under a microscope valid, or sensible.[QUOTE="duxup"][QUOTE="tycoonmike"]

No, but then again you're exaggerating to the point of lunacy.
Like it or not, you're going to have to live with it. Does that make it right? No. Does that mean it'll go away? Not without a massive crackdown on the media.
