He said it in what he thought was a private moment, but as he found out it wasn't. He had no way to know that the reporter would leak the information.

Sorry LJS, we'll have to disagree here. You and I are both adults with kid(s) and many responsibilities. But if we focus on one aspect of our life, 24/7, all the others will fail. To me that's no different than saying a Pres doesn't need/deserve a vacation. It was just a one line response.
