Its weird, when i talk to someone i find my eyes starring at their noses or forehead. When i catch myself staring into their eyes, i find it weird. Is this a bad habit? How important is eye contact in a casual social conversation?

Yeah, especially if they are a cute female...MgamerBDConcerning your shirtless pic... must of been a cold day :P
Yes, but in a non-threatening manner.
Women are the hardest to make eye contact with for me. My eyes have a tendency to wander downward.

depends how comfortable i am w the person i'm talking to. even then, my gaze will stray from their eyes every so often during conversation
I always maintain eye contact during serious discussions, or in a job-related situation. It's, first and foremost, a sign of respect. But it also shows that you are fully invested in the conversation at hand. I also tend to lock eyes with someone in a debate or argument, and I don't usually let them stray in that situation either, as it subconsciously asserts dominance over the other individual in many cases.
In casual conversation I don't necessarily hold eye contact as it seems less important.
just like what TC said,i tend to stare at their nose or lips but i always thought that's because i'm obsessed with nose shapes in general.
Yes, I do maintain eye contact.
Not constantly though, that's just creepy, but enough to let them know I have an interest in what their saying (even when I in fact don't).
It's just a sign of respect.
Not unless they're one of my closest friends/family members, or I'm in a relationship with them(although it's been a while since that ones come into use haha)
Shh! I have a double identity. :o[QUOTE="soulless4now"][QUOTE="CHOASXIII"]I knew it! You are evil! :PCHOASXIII
Okay, I won't tell.
Good. :DNo, it's very difficult for me to maintain eye contact with most people. For me, strong trust is a requisite for sustained eye contact.
Legend has it that eye contact is really important in communication. So I maintain eye contact alot, especially when I'm lying.
I have trouble with eye contact sometimes. Sometimes I just don't feel comfortable. Everytime one of these eye contact threads comes up it reminds me to work on it. When I do I notice that people respond to me better.
When I'm talking I tend to look around, but when I'm listening I maintain eye contact.

I pretty much do the same.

I try to make occasional contact so it seems like I'm still paying attention. But for the life of me, I just cannot maintain it for more than a few seconds a a time, lol.

What about Webcam?
try to keep staring at the feet of whoever you're talking to, next time, throughout the duration of the conversation the importance will gauge and present itself to you automaticallyHow important is eye contact in a casual social conversation?

basically what Assassin_87 said. except more notably in my case when i'm pissed off or i'm talking to someone to come to an important agreement on. holding and looking people straight in the eyes tends to scare the piss out of some people. in every day dialog, i don't, unless the conversation turns serious.I always maintain eye contact during serious discussions, or in a job-related situation.
