Oh it's on now.:PIt completely depends on the genre. My country (netherlands) has the best djs, scandinavia has the best metal, france has the best electronic music (at least dance music), england has the best pop-rock, the US has the best of quite a lot of mainstream genres etc.
If I had to choose one, it would still be England.
[QUOTE="redstorm72"]We have a few good ones (Devin Townsend ROCKS), but I really don't think we put out nearly enough of it to be considered the best county for music. We certainly don't get any points for Celine Dion, Avril Lavigne or Nickelback imho.Canada.

Yeah, I know, I'm being a bit biased. That being said, I would still rank Canada second behind the U.S. (IMO). A lot of my favorite bands are from here like Billy Talent, Alexisonfire, Sum 41, Bryan Adams, Niel Young, Rush, Three Days Grace, etc.
Are you intobands likeCan and Neu!? I'm starting to get into Krautrock.for my genres. i'd probably have to say Germany.
dissonantblack
Canada cause of their great music champ Bryan Adams
Sweden - ABBA
America cause of all the great bands and songs to come out of it
England cause i just love Chumbawamba Tubthumping
And Australia because of all its 1 hit wonders
[QUOTE="markop2003"]China is a possible simply as it has the largest population and so has the highest probability of making the best music. USA is a possibility to as the population has more spare time compared to those in the developing world and is the largest western country however they don't have the talent colleges that China has. If you're including historic music then it couldn't be the US or Germany as they haven't existed as a nation for very long, Britain is the best candidate then. [QUOTE="surrealnumber5"]classical? germany past 100 years ? the statessurrealnumber5When the majority of the great composers were born Germany didn't exist. The German Empire was founded in 1871, before that it was a group of city states with temporary confederacies. prussian and austro hungarian happy mr. Wannabe Smarty Pants?
surreal is right, Beethoven, Mozart, Bach... they really trump the classical music. and when you say german, you refer to germanic peoples of previous existing nations too. So Germania, The Holy Roman Empire, Prussia, Austria-Hungary. All german. Waving different flags.
i think UK had some awesome rock bands and still does. Coldplay is one of my faves. But at the moment. I dunno. Most music, especially pop, they're all pretty crap in my opinion. I'm just listening to the oldies at the moment.
USA is my fave because the hip-hop, jazz, soul and funk scenes are much better than other countries... and these are also my favorite genres. Can't speak on the other genres though.
Japan and well.. Europe excluding the UK. I don't like much from there.
