These two have quite an interesting story no doubt. Some good, some bad, both unforgettable.

The people, the culture, the events we've heard about. Either in school, books, magazines, entertainment, etc.

Now, which of the two do YOU think has some interesting history?

I think you'd have to go with the UK just being fair to the fact that it's been around about ten times longer. :P

The UK has a more intriguing history for my tastes. Civil war and slaughtering indians isn't my idea of fun.

Well, the UK has Romans and the dark ages. Perhaps if the Native Americans had recorded more of their history we could compete. But for now, the UK.

While certain parts of the USA's history are very interesting, I will definitely have to go with the UK, if not just for the fact that it has a lot more history.

How can you say american history is more interesting when you don't know much about other countries and their history? USA - Boston Tea Party. The UK - Mary of Scots vs. Queen Elizabeth the first, virgin mother of England, the woman who united the UK.

But you're still being incredibly ignorant when you say that, since you don't know much history besides your own country's. Your country is build upon technology, resources, people and ideas from Europe, yet you know don't seem to know anything about the world your ancestors came from.

The best part of their history, however,is when some left and helped build what America is today, which turned out to be a much better country with way more freedoms.

The UK comprises 4 countries, each with their own histories so it is kind of unfair to compare it to the US which is a single country. I would say the UK though because it has a very interesting history and is probably one of the most important areas on the Earth in terms of historical influence and inventions. The US has an interesting history as well but it hasn't been around as long and probably won't be around much longer so it can't compete with over 2,000 years of history.

Is that not a completely contradictory statement? You just said X is more interesting than Y, but you have no knowledge of what Y is. How does that work? 'My car is a much better car than your car, though i have no idea what car you have.' :P

A very wise buddha once said; If a man were to stand at a podium and declare himself the greatest, most superior man in the world, casting you aside as inferior to his levels of greatness, he would be dismissed as a fool. If a group of people announce themselves to be the greatest and most superior of peoples, casting others aside as inferior to their greatness, they are applauded as patriotic. A wise buddha indeed.

The UK hasn't as a formal nation, but the islands of Britain have existed since ancient times and the modern day britain goes way back into the days of ancient civilisation. :) I don't think the TC meant to only include the history from the day that the islands officially united themselves as the UK, but i could be wrong.

They did invent a lot of stuff though. Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in America. The wright brothers from America invented the plane, if we didn't have planes it would be a lot harder to get around. America may not have been around for as long as UK but theres still amazing history. America also invented the internet, and America is the reason why we are so advanced in technology.

America is a much better country than the UK. Without a doubt.

Based on what? And that is quite subjective anyway, I was talking more about the "way more freedoms" part. Are you serious about that?

America is known as the land of the free, and is the leader of the free world. The UK really doesn't believe in freedom as strong as America does. They are certainly not willing to make sacrifices for it. I'm pretty sure that why America was founded in the first place.

[QUOTE="Deihjan"]The UK has a more intriguing history for my tastes. Civil war and slaughtering indians isn't my idea of fun.

Eh..there have many a war the UK was involved in...and slaughter as well.
