who here has experienced racism? i don't care if you're black, white, asian or whatever. i personally have but in a really hidden way. i study in an international school and there's this australan kid who i can see doesn't like me because of my colour but i can't tell because he never insulted me in front of me or said anything racist to me. by the way i'm african.
I have before, I've had friends who have, I just shrug it off and laugh. Those kind of people have a limited view on the world. When it comes to sink or swim, I guess they're going to drown, because the world is always changing and some things are becomming more acceptable.

it's a sad thing people can be so ignorant and undermine other races. i especially feel sorry for the mexican americans that fuel america's econonomy due to low wages they are payed buy businesses but are hated by the country
I was accused of being racist for not liking someone. I guess that was racist towards me if anything, since he assumed I didn't like him because I was white and he was black. For me, that sums up how pathetic racism is and why I just don't care about it at all.
Several times. Mostly when I was younger though. (I'm Asian by the way) The one instance that stands out in my mind the most is when I was about 16. My family and I went on a road trip to the US and my best friend came with us (he's Asian as well). Wedecided to stopin Georgia to get a motel. My friend and I decided to do some exploring because we were bored so we just went for a stroll down the street. We were just walking and talking. Within a few minutes there was a police cruiser slowly following us on the street. Eventually the cop pulled up next to us and asked us what we were doing. We replied that we had just checked into a motel and decided to go for a walk. He then told us that he didn't think it was a very good idea for "you people" to be walking around and told us to go back inside the motel and stay there.
This was a pretty jarring experience because I'm from Toronto which is one of the most multicultural cities in the world. You see everyone from everywhere here. On some days it seems as though whites are the minority here. But suddenly in Georgia, my friend and I were treated like aliens and stuck out like a sore thumb. I'm not saying all of America is like this. I have been all over the States and there are several cities as diverse and multicultural as Toronto, but the ones that aren't...REALLY aren't.
Yeah, got into a fight with some hispanic (judging by his skin color) kid in grade 8 and he told me to go back to my SARS box (China) even though I'm not Chinese...:|

there is no such thing as a racist because everyone is the same so if you call someone a racist then you are also being racist towards that person by calling them a racist. Just my opinion and i think that these daysraisim hasbeen taken too far and people are using it in a wrong way.

And also, Ive directly experienced racism. This one time I wouldn't lend a muslim girl in my class my cd player, not because she was muslim, but because I was using it, and making it very obvious that I was in fact using it. So when I wouldn't give it to her she called me white boy and left, and I chuckled.

Ok, yes I have experiencedlight racism, and it was from a couplehigh natives, so I though of it more as funny..but I do know people who are kind of racist against one household in our neighborhood...
Sometimes when I mention that I'm Jewish in a game some people start refering to me as 'Jew-something'. Mostly I don't care if that's how they want to call me. Actually, there's one guy in a game I currently play who calls me Jewbie, which I find funny. Still, I suppose you could say it's some very mild racism there.

i worked at wendy's for a year and a half, and mexicans were almost always the hardest workers, and got minimum wage. it's really depressing, because a lot of them were also some of the coolest people i worked with.
and i have experienced quite a bit blatent racism in high school i'm white and went to a black high school. i carried a chip on my shoulder for awhile, but people are people and it would have been just as bad (if a little more subtle) if i had been black and went to a white high school.

Isn't it down south? Texas isn't full of racist farm boys who drive big Ford trucks...
Some of the last racist things you will find out here are just some slave houses that haven't fallen down yet. Some of the slave houses in the smaller citys are preserved for historic reasons, IIRC.
i used to live in oakland and would have black guys say racist stuff to me nearly every day. they were worst towards the white girls though. shortly after i moved there, i found out that's where the black panthers were created. lucky me. but hells angles were created there to. great place to live.
I used to when I was younger, because I am short and dark, but I'm actually white. Now if I experience any, it is usually a black dude in my class calling me a cracker.
Very little. I could have been reading to much into it. But I'm light skinned though. Funny thing is I've had more anomosity directed towards me by other blacks than whites. So when I hear that type of thing(blacks calling other blacks uncle toms, sellouts, saying they act white) that kind of crapis like a slap in the face.
I don't know. I've sensed hostility from other people that may have arisen mostly from superficial characteristics like race, but I'd hesitate to assert that I've "experienced racism."
