I ask this question because it seems that OT's music choices are by and large male-centric, so I'm just curious what female artists you guys like.

Anybody that knows anything about me knows that Madonna is my favorite female artist, so I won't focus on her, but my second favorite female artist is Kate Bush. Wuthering Heights is easily in my Top 3 favorite songs and Running Up That Hill and Cloudbusting are also some of my all time favorites.

lol, epic fail on my part. I usually ask about songs, so that's why I made such a dumb error.

Thanks.

female? idk really, i just notice that dont listen to any females for my music. Females (today) just sing about the same stuff with the same beat, and try to have gimmicks to get attention.

Carrie Underwood.

voice is amazing.

i heard her cover of Hearts "Alone" and it was amazing. not many people can sing Ann Wilson and actually do a good job of it.

the only country singer i actually like. and shes damn pretty.

I really like the female singer of the band Heartless Bastards. Aside from the obvious female singlers that others will undoubtedly mention, I am going to say her - Erika Wennerstrom. Here's a nice tune I like from the band - she has this Janis Joplin thing going on (unintended I presume), but I love it.

I love Sia's voice.

I almost hate to say it, but I really like the song she did for Twilight (she sounds kind of similar to Bjork there) but I'm disappointed to find therest of her work doesn't sound anything like it. I'm especially not a fan of her recent upbeat, pop-ish stuff.

Otherwise I'm really liking The Jezabels.

I didn't know she made a song for Twilight (since I won't go near that movie with a ten foot pole). I'll have to check it out. What's it called?

It's interesting to hear the song with her natural voice. I liked it, but the original is definitely superior, and I didn't care for what she did with the "Whatcha say" part of the song in that drone version.

Warning: I dont listen to a large variety of artists.

I like Kate Bush as well (her voice is mostly interesting imo in the Never for Ever and The Dreaming albums). I also like Elizabeth Fraser from Cocteau Twins (also already mentioned). And finally Amy Winehouse.

These are the ones I remember and stand out for me.

My Love (you can find it on her Best Of album). Some interpretations fall back to it simply being about Twilight, but others relate it to Sia and her boyfriend/fiance who was killed in a car accident... and with that in mind, it makes the song heartbreaking.

Just heard it. It's a pretty song. I prefer to relate it to the latter since Twilight is vapid.

Have any of you Sia fans heard her cover of Madonna's Oh Father? It's gorgeous. The original for reference.

That cover is how I discovered Sia. She did such a splendid job with the song.

Bonus points for Beth Gibbons. Quite like Beth Ditto.

And for a transient shining moment in the nineties, Courtney Love.
