Seriously, who the hell even approves of Bush's job as a president anymore? The right hates him for the Guest Worker program, the ACLU hates him for signing the Patriot Act into commission and torturing prisoners in Guantanamo Bay, the left hates him for pretty much screwing up our country, the family of those deployed in Iraq hates Bush for not bringing our troops home....

The patriot act is a lot like hitlers "enabling act"

Enabling act:

It was officially called the "Law for Removing the Distress of the People and the Reich." If passed, it would in effect vote democracy out of existence in Germany and establish the legal dictatorship of Adolf Hitler Brown-shirted Nazi storm troopers swarmed over the fancy old building in a show of force and as a visible threat. They stood outside, in the hallways and even lined the aisles inside, glaring ominously at anyone who might oppose Hitler's will.

Before the vote, Hitler made a speech in which he pledged to use restraint. "The government will make use of these powers only insofar as they are essential for carrying out vitally necessary measures. The number of cases in which an internal necessity exists for having recourse to such a law is in itself a limited one," Hitler told the Reichstag.

The vote was taken: 441 for, and only 84, the Social Democrats, against.

What did this lead to.....a little thing we like to call "The Holocaust"

so lets say 25% of america didn't vote. Thats pathetic, and shows laziness. You are choosing your leader, and your government to make descions for you. If 25 percent of Americans voted against Bush you wouldn't be in this mess with Iraq.

You are so stupid, my god. The patriot act was a good thing, until people that do not have the the welfare of this country in mind. It is pathetic. Basically, what you are saying is that everyone who has a view differing from bush hates him, well we could say the same damn thing about Hillary or Obama. Think about this. Oh and btw, the US economy is better than it was when clinton left, the unemployment rates are down and we have never tortued prisoners in any of our prisons. If you want to know about torture, why don't you look up Daniel Pearl or Nick Berg.

Do you live in some sort of alternate reality where up is down, left is right, and black is white?

During Clinton's rule, our country had a surplus. Now, thanks to Bush and his administration, we're trapped in a trillion-dollar deficit to China our children will have to pay for.

And don't even get me started on torture. We're holding prisoners over at Gitmo without the right to a fair trial just because "they could be terrorists". In most cases, we haven't even found any evidence to suggest that they are indeed plotting to harm our country.

Ok genious. The enabling act was put forth becuase Hitler told his country that there were poeplewithin germany terroizing the country, such as communists. Therefore, hitler proposed a plan of national security where the government will be given the right to arrest, search and seizure, trial, torture any person FOR ANY REASON with out providing proof that they are terrosists. Much like the patriot act (and if you dont belive the patriot act does that then you really need to look into it before you argue with me).

To this end, the public got very scared about these so called "terrorists" and voted the plan in with an over whelming majority. This in turn caused the incarceration of millions of jews who were, under the enabling act, terrorists. Furthermore, the holocuast errupted from these events and Hitler was given COMPLETE power of Germany, through legal activities.

Yes, so an organization that is dedicated to making sure our government doesn't lose sight of our freedom in the pursuit of security is composed of hippies?

Also, while I do acknowledge there are several people with family members deployed in Iraq who support the war, a majority of them are just now realizing that their loved ones are in danger of dying or dead just so Bush can complete what his father started and want them to come home safe and sound.

Only about 220 million Americans are of legal voting age. I believe turnout during a presidential election year usually averages around 50 - 60%, but I could be off.

(Regarding 2004) "The Committee for the Study of the American Electorate reported yesterday that more than 122 million people voted in the November election, a number that translates into the highest turnout -- 60.7 percent -- since 1968."

I do!

He may do things I don't agree with but most of his beliefs/ideals are the same as mine.

The ACLU hates people for just being white Christians, so having the ACLU hate you isn't too hard to do. The Left hates him because he is Republican.

The current Misery Index is 7.19. So America is actually liking how the country is being run (economically) right now. And if the Misery Index stays below 10 I expect the next president to be a Republican also... unless Al Gore decides to run as the Republican nominee.

I am not as mad at Bush as I am at the americans who voted for him. If you just think how silly this is...> The people who work for a boss (blue collar workers) should be democratic for the reason that almost everything a democratic president supports will benefit the working class. The republicans however, are business owners and big money makers and they look to take more from the working class to benefit themselves. Republicans want cheaper workers and more money. If you pay an ounce of attention, why do you think Bush wanted to let all the Mexicans run into America>>> because they work for less money to make more money for republicans. This is even ties in with support for unions. Republicans hate unions because it helps get the workers health care and a retirement pension and many other great things. Whats my point?>> Many Many Many Many Many working class people voted for bush A REPUBLICAN!. Common sense tells you that they should be voting for someone democratic. You may say that they were singleissue voters but its just not right to elect for president (the most powerful man in the world) someone who you only agree with one or two small issues rather than looking at the big picture like THE WAR, MEXICO'S BOARDER, health care for the elderly and most importantly...>>>...>>> PLANET EARTHS HEALTH!!!

You basically said:

Republican = Capitalist
Democrat = Socialist

I'll tell you why blue collar working class votes Republican. They don't want to pay higher taxes. All these Utopian ideas of free healthcare and such ARE NOT FREE. Most Americans realize this. So those Blue Collar workers who aren't earning millions of dollars don't want to give the government more of their money. Nor do they want to give more of their hard earned money to poor people who won't stop having babies and won't get a job (most don't do this but there are too many that do).

[QUOTE="jodamn"]The (approximately) 30% that currently support Bush are the ultimate diehards. No action he takes could lose the support of these individuals.

You know what is funny? His approval rating is higher than the liberal congress'.

Heh. Funny or sad?

[QUOTE="Czech1229"]I am not as mad at Bush as I am at the americans who voted for him. You may say that they were singleissue voters but its just not right to elect for president (the most powerful man in the world) someone who you only agree with one or two small issues rather than looking at the big picture like THE WAR, MEXICO'S BOARDER, health care for the elderly and most importantly...>>>...>>> PLANET EARTHS HEALTH!!!cametall

You basically said:

Republican = Capitalist
Democrat = Socialist

I agree with half of what you said. But... i'm not stuck on the idea of free healthcare eather. The entire world has gone to H3LL because it is always every man woman and child for themselves. The main cause of course '''money and greed'''. I will elaborate in my own words on what you said about poor people. Your right, they dont want to work and mostly have too many kids but there is a reason. They just don't know any better. They cant get a job because no one wants to hire someone that wasn't put through school. ..and they didn't go to school because they probably started out being poor. And because they don't know anything, they are brainwashed by republicans to vote for them. Its not completely their fault. Just think about how hard it would be for you to be taught only basic life skills and go find a job to support 2 or more kids. Everyone should work together but that is not how it works in todays society. Its a real shame but also reality.

we need to go to war in the middle east, but we went to the wrong place. we should have went to Iran. Also, war isnt easy, or quick, thats wat a lot of the american people dont get. We will leave, it just probebly wont be this year. Also, if u didnt vote, dont complain, he was voted in twice, so, there it is. Also, most politions are looking out for themselves, and not always for other(like us) we need to vote someone in from the green party, so that if there is a congresional or senete vote, they wont vote w/ or w/othe president depending on his party. but, yes, i support bush, and his war, just not his war in Iraq.

Some would say that America's voting system is broken. In the 2000 election, the (very slight) majority of people did not vote for Bush. Far too much value is placed on the few 'swing states.' It should be an election by popular vote.

Oh and btw, the US economy is better than it was when clinton left, the unemployment rates are down and we have never tortued prisoners in any of our prisons. If you want to know about torture, why don't you look up Daniel Pearl or Nick Berg.ninjacat11

During Clinton's rule, our country had a surplus. Now, thanks to Bush and his administration, we're trapped in a trillion-dollar deficit to China our children will have to pay for.

What alternate world are you living in? In the year 2000 right before Bush even was elected the U.S. was 5.6 trillion, all Clinton did was have a budget surplus that lower the debt for like a year, he never erased the dept entirely, that will never happen.

The sort of people who vote for the same party every time, despite what may have changed about that party over the years.

The reason we use the electoral college is because California and a few New England states would be electing the president. So in a nation of 50 states 6 of them would be electing the nation's politicians.
