It's Christian dogma. The bible says that gay people are unnatural, so society has always been somewhat anti-gay. I think this is stupid, and I do sense a rise in the amount of acceptance gay people are getting. Hopefully soon the only people that treat gays any differently are hardcore Catholics.

It means a bundle of kindling, and it's come to mean gay people because during the middle ages they used to throw them on the fire before they burned whoever the main "criminal" was at the stake.

Don't go blaming Christians and the bible, many non-christian cultures are quite homophobic. It's because gay people are different and people hate people that are different from themselves. By the way, at church (catholic) at Christmas and Easter (when there are lots of people there) they say that they welcome everybody.

It's not uncommon for humans to hate things they don't understand. It's happened all through history (Witch burnings, Slavery, WWII etc) For some people, it's almost as scary as standing in the dark and hearing strange noises, immediatly they run for protection or prepare to fight.
What people need to realize is that we shouldn't be afraid of eachother, we should be afraid of the hate we build up around ourselves, that's truly what causes the discrimination.
A person cannot be judged by theirrace, gender, sexual preferance, religion, or abilities, rather, only one's character can truly define a human being.

Never generalize based on a single example, ever. I'm nothing at all like that, in fact both my spouse and I are very private people. Not often public with our sexuality. Though I admire homosexuals who are open... which doesn't include what you described, i would call that obnoxious and vulgar.

Gay Innuendo is everywhere, it's pretty much common talk, and usually in 70% of jokes, especially on the internet. But yeah you shouldn't steriotype people based on one experience you had, that's just their character.

No one group of people is "like" anything. We are all human beings and as such, we are ALL different.
Asking if all homosexuals are a certain way would be like saying "I once heard a white guy laughing extremely loud and swearing, are all white people like that?"
Just by looking at the sentence, you can see how that doesn't make sense.
Homosexuality is not a disease in which the entire group shares the same symptoms.
Sexual preferance is just that, a preferance...it doesn't define who you are as a person.
