Why Americans and Canadians hate each other? And Americans and British.

Im neither one, but you seem to hate each other a bit. Nothing anything serious, a few jokes on movies and stuff like that. When did it started?

Right now I am studying in the Northwestern US, right by the US/Canada border. Here, at least, it is more of a joke. People make fun of Canadians all the time, but not in a serious manner. Have your heard "Canadian Idiot" by "Weird Al" Yankovic? Cause that pretty much somes it up :D.

personally I think that Canadians and Americans just razz each other, but in reality we're cool with each other.

In all seriousness I have no hate to Canadians and I don;t know many Americans where I live that do.

I'm American and I love Canadians they have some pretty good bands from over there.

Canada has been trying to distance itself from the US' policy in the Middle East (with the initial reluctance to get involved). Tension was felt when Canada refused to send troops to fight in Iraq. Relationship somewhat eased up when Harper's Conservative government shared a more common philosophy with the US than the Liberals in Canada did.

I think the American people are a little naive when it comes to politics and I detest their government but then again... I feel the same way about Canada.

Actually I believe it originally began because of American egocentricism. They attacked Canada because they thought it was their 'Manifest Destiny' or 'God given right' to rule all of North america. That's why they bought what originally was thought to be completely worthless land from Russia. (At least this is what we are taught in school) and from there it was because of American ignorance of Canada. I mean back in the day they use to think we lived in igloos and had no electricity! Nowadays it is because of certain Americans egocentrism completely miscounting Canada and other nations for the good they do around the world. Some of them even believe they won WWII alone. But overall I don't find Americans THAT bad.

I've met a few canadians and they were all cool fellas. Don't know where you got the idea that we hate each other.

I've had nothing but good experiences with Canadians in Canada.
