I'm under the impression it was the Romans who executed Jesus not the Jews. I think the main beef of Christians against the Jews stems from Judas Iscariot's betrayal. The main beef of Muslims against the Jews is pretty more recent. Up to the Crusades, Muslim and Jew got along well somewhat. At that time, Jerusalem was controlled by Muslims. But, they allowed the Jews to remain. Really, it was the Christians of western Europe who were the barbarians of the time. The Byzantines were Christians too. But, they too were also viewed with suspicion by the western Europeans. It was the European crusaders who put the Jews of Jerusalem to the sword when they captured the city.

I'm not too well-versed in the subject aside from what the Bible says, but the Bible's account makes it seem like the Jews (especially the ruling faction, Pharisees?) hated Jesus because his teachings went counter to theirs and they demanded he be executed. Pilate, the Roman governor they took him before, wanted nothing to do with it and told them to do what they like with Jesus, washing his hands of the situation. Of course, I have heard arguments that the issues surrounding the event were more complex, that the Jews had struck a decent balance with the Romans and were afraid of Jesus' faction disrupting that; that there were elements in the Roman government who wanted Jesus dead; and that people from both camps feared Jesus would eventually incite rebellion, directly or indirectly. I agree that much of the institutionalized discrimination against Jews came from Christian societies following the end of the middle ages, but without much knowledge of the preceeding era I wouldn't want to omit any possibilities.
Mmm. I like. I like although I'm not certain of many aspects. Quite frankly, I get a headache trying to sort these stuff out.
Bah, this type of history is easy. Now European Monarchies? That's hard. She's marrying him to get more prestige and her family hated his family but now they both hate this other family that used to be sort of in bed with his family. Then over here you've got insistence on royal rule, except when they don't like the ruler, then there are rebellions by certain groups, rulers in absentia, rulers being bused in from other countries, great electors and new order armies and all this crap. Makes my head spin.
