More movies these days rely on gore and pop out moments instead of atmosphere which I think is killing the horror genre. There are still some good horror movies these days that still terrifies me like The Ring, The Grudge, and The Orphanage which is one million times better then slasher movies like Hostel.

16 is around the age where no movie is going to actually scare you no matter whats in it. These days i just watch horror movies for the plot and unintentional humor which the later saw movies just dont have.

They used to be raw and gritty, and grim, now the effects are too good I think and they just dont have an atmosphere like the old ones do. They just feel even more fake than the old ones.

Because they focus to much on gore, you've seen it all before, you know it's not real so it's no scary.
