I've noticed this a lot of internet message boards like IMDB and here. People always say "your" instead of "you're". And the funniest thing is when a snobbish person tries to correct someone else's spelling, they almost always misspell this one word, "you're". Weird huh ;)
It would be the same with there. Like if I were to say there going to the movies. The correct way is they're. Common mistake, but I don't get bent out of shape about it.
That's one thing that sometimes irritates me. Once I made a huge rant in a thread where nobody had got it right. They never made that mistake again :twisted:
I don't proof read my stuff, I often notice that I've done it wrong when typing or afterwards, I just have a bad habit of editing and correcting (for some reason reading a small font against a white background make(S) it easy to read past errors).
edit: like the fact that I missed that 'S' off entirely.
i type way to fast so i tend to make typoes...but in the end i dont care enuff to change most of them, i mean im writing online not one of my college essays lol

Most people probably understand the correct form (your or you're) to use but they're trying to get their post done quickly and don't bother to proof-read it. I usually proof-read my stuff but I still make grammar errors once in a while.

At least your/you're and their/there/they're are common mistakes and done on an internet forum. Last semester I was editor for my group paper in a college class, and I had one dumbass turn in a paper that contained mistakes such as writing "wood" instead of "would have".

Making for a lot of ironically amusing insults. Too true :lol: I guess there are quite a lot of mistakes. I'm not saying we all should have perfect grammar (after all it's the internet), it's just something I've noticed that "you're" is misspelled the most.

I hate when snobby people try to correct me, because I really dont care at all. Im on the internet, not at school.
Because they don't understand the logic that governs contractions, and so they just spell words the way they sound. It's the feeble-minded approach to writing.
