Why do men drool over hot chicks.

I mean, seriously. Not just you guys here on Gamespot, but guys in general. My coworkers might elbow me in the arm and say "hey man, check out that chick. Nice, eh?"

 And while the woman that they point out to me might be attractive, does it matter?

 You don't like them. You don't even know them, you just drool over them because you saw them on TV and you would like to have sex with someone who looks like that. You're NEVER going to have sex with them. Never. You know deep in your heart that you'll never even get to properly meet them. And you know that even if you did meet them, there's a very VERY good chance that they would hate you simply because you aren't on their level.

So WHY?  Can someone please tell me exactly what is accomplished by getting so "distracted" every time a "hot" woman appears? For the sake of argument, let's just say that it's entirely based on the fact that you would like to have sex with her. I personally don't see how that helps. Why not? Because you're in public, so you really can't do anything about your desire to have sex with her. And by the time you've gotten home, you most likely will have forgotten about her anyway.

So I just don't see what is gained by drooling over women that you know you don't have a chance in hell of ever "getting to know".I know that this forum is mostly frequented mostly by men (and some teenagers) so can somebody explain this to me? Okay, for the sake of argument, let's say that I'm at work and an extremely hot customer comes in. That's fine, but can somebody please tell me how it could POSSIBLY benefit ME to stand there wishing I could have sex with her when I know very darn well that I never will?

while i love seeing hot women walk by, i agree with you that its stupid to drool and point it out to your friends, making comments and so forth.  i dont get the point in that. 

as long as its not as bad as someone i use to work with, he did it all the time, when i hot girl/woman comes in he'll try to hog all the work, but when its anyone else he rarely does half of it.  he'll make comments and stare at them and so forth.  and i say girl as well b/c he does the same for girls under 18, sad yes i know.  i wouldnt be suprised if he would have told us he wants to have sex with a girl who walks in, when she only looks 14 or so.

   You are putting waaay too much thought into this.  It is our base nature, our primal urge as hot-blooded humans to desire the other sex.  I won't discuss the nature of attraction, because this isn't a place for an encyclopedia entry.  Simply put, all the talk, hype and drooling over an attractive female are simply manefestations of our desire to procreate.

  You shouldn't try to deny or be above what you are.  There nothing wrong with wishing to have sexual relations with someone of the opposite sex, especially if they are attractive to you.

  Which makes me wonder: do you not feel these urges towards a very attractive woman?  If you are a heterosexual, I know you feel it.  Drooling and wolf whistling are not necessary IMO and show a lack of class, but feeling that burning desire is not abnormal and should not at all be denied.

^Its true. I just got back from LA last week. Plastic surgery is so abundant that when I saw a movie at a theater there were ads for plastic surgery projected on the screen before the previews rolled. I had never even seen a plastic surgery ad till I went to Cali. The women are all hot too, its insane.

Genetics, instincts, biological urges and drives.  Men have very potent sex drives.  Most animal species have strong reproductive drives - it's how your genes are passed on and the species is propagated.

 Men drool over woman across almost all cultures and societies - thus it's not a societal thing but rather an inborn urge.  Deal with it.

It's a basic instinct to want to mate with beautiful, healthy females to have beautiful and healthy babies.leeveeu

For me, it's all about self pleasure (the more appealing we find something to be, the better the "experience"). I don't plan on having kids :P

Edit: Note I am not bashing other orientations...it just isn't natural for them to drool over the opposite sex.  They have the same sex to drool over which is quite natural for them.

And another thing. We drool over beautiful things all the time, even though we may not have them or we won't ever have them: hot cars, hot cribs etc...  The desire for beauty is inscribed in us, it has almost become a basic need.
