Cause they are ashamed and lying to themselves
And the majority of americans aren't obese.

It annoys me how people can judge people just by looks. For example, I bet none of you judge a skinny person who has the same diet as a 300lbs man. lonewolf604Exactly. It's ok to make fun of fat people, but I make one racist remark and everyone gets their panties in a bunch.
I just don't believe anyone can be as obese as many Americans are without eating alot. Conservation of mass right? Your fat has to come from somewhere. And yet many Americans are saying that it's an epidemic like a 'disease' or something. Are you telling me that in the 60's and 70's, Americans are not subjected to this 'disease' and suddenly everyone contracted this disease in the 21st century? That makes no sense at all.
Ummm this isn't just obese people from the US. This is applicable to every obese person.Â
Obese people don't realize that a normal 2000 calorie diet cannot sustain their massive weight. That naturally, even if you're taking in a bit higher than you should be, your body will eventually hit an upper limit of what weight it can hold and a current calorie intake. People who get fatter and fatter need more and more calories to sustain itself.
While the US has a problem with obesity, it's definitely not the only nation that has obese people and not the only one struggling to keep their population fit. It's kind of a univeral problem for 1st world nations that grows with each passing generation.
Easy access to food high in salt and fat has increased obesity in the US, but we're not the only country suffering this epidemic.Â
Not every obese person is that way as a product of overeating. There are medical issues that can cause weight increases. People struggle to lose weight, and mocking them certianly doesn't help.
We should offer walking/bike riding subsidies. FightingfanThey are already implied. You save money by not driving/taking the bus, AND you get exercise instead.

[QUOTE="lonewolf604"][QUOTE="rocinante_"]In the most extreme cases, being fat is a choice. Otherwise, it is genetics. For example, if I stopped exercising, I would balloon up. Back then, I was heavy, yet my skinny friend (who had a worse diet than I did, and never worked out) was skinny as hell. While I agree that genetics do play a role, I find it hard to believe that the sudden increase in obesity percentages across the globe is related to a sudden change in genetics. Well obviously, rise in accessibility to unhealthy foods plays a part. But as I mentioned, we always pick on the fat people while we really should be focusing on everyone. Person A is skinny, person B is fat. They both have the same unhealthy diet, but person B will obviously get more ridicule.Âwell, being fat is usually a choice, while people are born with a certain skin colour...

I wounder where TC gets this "many" comes from. 1 person does not equal a nation with 330 million people...
Â
anyways only thing I have against fat people are fat parents who have fat kids...Â
lol, I never heard an obese person say something like that. Actually, I never asked either. I hardly seek answers, or ask questions to what I already know. That said, some people do suffer with thyroid issues. But that's really not any of my concern. As long as I'm taking care of self.... what others eat or weigh isn't my business.

Because they are eating calorie dense garbage with only macronutrients and no micro, it doesn't feel like a lot, and since they are still missing a lot of vitamins and minerals they still crave food.
On top of that they drink a lot of their calories which they don't take into account when discussing how much they eat.
Â
I stopped eating fast food and started drinking only water and I lost 30 lbs. Â I made no other changes in behavior
because when your hand is the size of a catchers mitt you don't realize that a quadruple pounder is actually pretty big.....Omni-Slashthe occasional dinosauric hunk of meat is rarely the problem with peoples nutrition. people run on caffeine, sugar, and salty snacks. i guess what i am saying is, bro, leave the BBQ pit out of this non-issue or "political issue" .

some people may not eat a lot per say, but the stuff they eat is of high density (ie. contains loads of calories).Â
people don't want to cook their food anymore because there's so many ready-to-eat options out that are generally very unhealthy. it's the whole "i want it now" mentality that's prominent in developed countries
[QUOTE="Gaming-Planet"]I didn't like that video. No one likes /fit/.This is why fat people are fatÂ

Because they don't want to take responsibility for the fact that they are fat. Â The epidemic in this country isn't obesity it's actually lack of self control, discipline and blaming everything but themselves for their condition. Â You can't fix any personal problem without owning it first. Â But...our society loves to look at symptoms rather than the actual problem for fear of offending anyone so people will continue to be fat and lie about their eating habits and that's that. Â

Caffeine is great, tho. Also a good appetite suppressant.
The majority of Americans are not obese.
Those that are obese might lie about what they eat for the same reason a junky will say they can quit whenever they want, they're lying to themselves. And it's not always about how much a person eats, what they are eating is important too.
its not their fault they caught fat, haven't you heard of the obesity epidemic going around? how dare you shame people for getting ill, they had little power over this invasive contagion and limiting it to americans, have you seen the infection rates in other first world nations, if anything it is the fault of airline companies for not containing this illness. The majority of Americans are not obese.

Much of the weight tends to come from snacking between meals, and people often snack without thinking about it or ven remembering that they were eating. So the lok at their meals, which we tend to remember, and think that they're small, making it seem to themselves that they don't eat very much.
If every one kept a food journal, it would be an eye opener for a lot of us.

Yeah, it's stupid that everyone think it's only an American problem. Even f*cking Mexico has a 25% obesity rate.Ummm this isn't just obese people from the US. This is applicable to every obese person.Â

You don't have to eat much to gain weight in the US.
The typical food is calorically dense, but also lacks nutrients. The typical American is fat but also starving on a cellular level.
The soil is artificially fertilized, but nutritionally dead. So even having alot of salad doesn't do much in terms of getting proper nutrition.
People who are thin in the US are people who, under normal nutritional circumstances, would not survive.
