... for not having much experience; Obama doesn't have that much more than her. Besides, she's not going to be a President, only. a VP. We shouldn't have a President with as little experience as Obama.

So why is she such a target for being attacked? I'll admit I wasn't so sure she was the right choice for McCain but after seeing the speech last night, I'm 99% sure McCain will beat Obama

Sajo7

Because they are afraid that McCain will win.

and they dont want that... so what else can they do? smelly libs

Smelly?

Im sorry... refreshing*

[QUOTE="Johnny-Quest"]Palin is nothing but an attempt to take away hillary supportersJohnny-Quest

I thought her "down-to-earth," and "we're not perfect family" would appeal to women voters as well

Plus the Hockey Mom thing too

The fact she is anti-abortion pretty much takes away the support of a lot of hildog supporters.

Good. She should be. I am too; most abortions are because people make stupid decisions (usually teenage girls) and don't want the responsibility of being a parent when they're 17. The only time abortion should be allowed is if some poor girl gets raped and becomes pregnant. But that's it.

I had the option for my girlfriend to get an abortion and we decided not too (I was 18). Best decision we ever made.

Well I'm glad you are happy with your decision. In freakonomics he lays out a pretty good case that abortion reduces crime, because growing up in a broken house does not help the nation. Abstance programs do not work (looks at palins daughter and the baby's fathers myspace). It should be a choice plain and simple, if your against it fine it's your choice not the states. Republican's are always saying that government should be smaller, the anti-abortion thing then does not make since. I don't want the government forcing me to have the child if I don't want it/cannot support it.

Then wear a condom. It's not that hard.

Or just take it out before :P

The fact is that accidents happen such as a condom breaks, forgot to take bc or something along those lines. I don't want the government to decide for me. Republicans only support abstinence not bc. The old keep it in your pants line of thought. Fact is that things happen and if I can live with the choice of abortion then I should be able to have one. I don't want the government to tell me whats right and what is wrong.

It's not about your rights. It's about protecting the unborn child. You should NOT have the choice to decide weather to terminate his life or not. Like you said, things happen.. and thats just the way life is. If you end up having a child, well, things happen, and you have to deal with it. Aborting the baby is not dealing with it.. it's running away from it, like a coward.

Abortions aren't just a "stay out of my business" kind of thing. In a lot of people's eyes, it's murder. If you murder someone you can't just tell the government to stay out of your business. "I don't wanna deal with this guy so I'm just gunna kill him". "I don't wanna deal with this kid so I'm just gunna kill it". People see it in the same way.

I know. There is a big difference however in killing some one who has actually lives and has conscious thought than aborting a fetus with none of the above. I would not know the difference if I was not born compared to some one coming up and attacking me and killing me. If you outlaw abortions it is not going to stop people from performing them. Here are some sources that prove it.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/12/world/12abortion.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/03/health/views/03essa.html?scp=2&sq=abortion%20physician%20before%20roe%20v%20wade&st=cse

The fact is that if some one wants an abortion they are going to do it. Above all, we need to keep it legal to prevent these sort of problems in our nation. Making it illegal will only cause more strain on our health care system and take it into unsafe territory that it doesn't need to belong in.

i think she's a hypocrite just like the rest of them...a sloppy one at that. if you are going to talk about wholesomeness don't have pictures of you and your underage kids drinking and parting with guns all over the net. yeh thats the message we want the kids to know. i also think she is a red neck on low. her son n law claims he's one and proud of it. ( saw it on the news) but i'll wait to hear what she can do for everyone instead of rallying the naive women with bs. this is going to be an interesting election....can't wait to see the outcome.

The ny times is one of the most liberal newspapers around.. of course they would try to support pro choice. There are home abortions that are done now, even though it's legal to get an abortion. The people who get it done by a doctor play by the rules. If it was illegal, then they would put it up for adoption.

Most people who have the home abortions are usually teens trying to hide it from their mother.

Sigh, did you even read the articles? One is from a gynaecologist that has been in the thick of it, and the other is from a multinational health organization. How are these liberal? Just because it was in the new york times you bash it as liberal and scuff at the articles. I can link it from some where else that isn't as liberal if you prefer.

The NY Times being liberal has absolutely no effect on the studies they used to reach their conclusion If the studies are right, the story is right.

Why would you put someone with so little experience in the position to potentially become the president? McCain pretty old, what if he snuffs it in office? You'd be in a whole lot of crap.

VP needs to be qualified to become president at any given moment, you ignorant soul.

Oh and her expierience really instills confidence in me:

PALIN: "Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown."

REALITY: UNDER PALIN, WASILLA GOVERNMENT SPENDING & DEBT SKYROCKETED.

Total Government Expenditures Increased 63 Percent Under Palin. In fiscal 2003—the last fiscal year Palin approved the budget—the total government expenditures of Wasilla, excluding capital outlays, were $7,046,325. In fiscal 1996—the year before Palin took control of the
budget—the expenditures were $4,317,947. The increase was 63 percent. [Wasilla Comprehensive Annual Financial Report 2003, Table 1]

Palin Supported Increasing Wasilla Sales Tax From 2 to 2.5 Percent to Build $14.7 Million Sports Center. "Wasilla residents have given the go ahead to building a new multiuse sports center in town and to raising the city sales tax to pay for it. With the final votes counted
Friday, residents voted 306 to 286 in favor of a measure to raise the city sales tax from 2 percent to 2.5 percent to pay the estimated $14.7 million cost of building the center…Mayor Sarah Palin, who supported the measure, said the tight vote will motivate city officials to keep a close eye on the budget for the center." [Anchorage Daily News, 3/9/02]

Palin Left Behind Almost $19 Million In Long-Term Debt, Compared to None Before She Was Mayor. In fiscal 2003—the last fiscal year Palin approved the budget—the bonded long-term debt was $18,635,000. In fiscal 1996—the year before Palin took control of the budget—there was no general obligation debt. [Wasilla Comprehensive Annual Financial Report 2003, Table 10]

Tell the police they dont need guns... we will always need guns and dont ever tell anyone otherwise, the bad guys will always smuggle them in no matter what, good people need a defense also

If they are takin away, i will have one illegal, so what did you end up with? the bad guys still with guns, and the good guys become bad guys or they get taken advantage of by the criminals

wow. are you serious?

the amount of experience palin has is nothing compared to what obama has.

governor of ALASKA? come on there isn't more than 200 people in all of alaska. and when was the last time there were significant economy problems or foreign relation problems with alaska?

that's like letting a kid be a general because he used to play with army men when he was a kid.

obama has 8 years experience in the state senate of illinois, and 2 years of experience in the national senate. that's infinitely more than being governor of alaska and in a few city councils for less than 2 years. not to mention obama is a harvard law grad so that brings something.

they are both relatively inexperienced. i don't honestly like either obama or mccain. but, i would infinitely have obaama/biden over mccain/palin.

read my sig for more reasons.

If McCain had one I only would've been annoyed. But I don't like the idea of someone like Palin being a heartbeat from the presidency. McCain is healthy, but he is old, anything could happen. And I don't trust Palin at all.

Even as Mayor of a town with 5000 people(at the time, now I believe its around 7000) she managed to acquire $22 million dollars in debt, she inherited the town with no debt whatsoever.

All the republican supporters have is experience to attack. They never post any sources or anything, I find it pretty funny my self.

Well thats nothing special. It just bugs me that only Obama gets bashed for having hollow speeches. Just because Obama is a good speaker doesn't make McCain's campaign speeches any less vague or meaningless than Obama's.

wait wait wait. The only ones throwing the word inexperience are Republicans, not Democrats.

also its funny how McCain's/ Palin's teams are screaming that the Democrats are getting at her for inexperience and on her personal life and when asked which person from the democrated party has done so, none can answer. Heck, Republicans that are working with Palin are the ones who are talking about her the way she reports.

wow. are you serious?

the amount of experience palin has is nothing compared to what obama has.

governor of ALASKA? come on there isn't more than 200 people in all of alaska. and when was the last time there were significant economy problems or foreign relation problems with alaska?

that's like letting a kid be a general because he used to play with army men when he was a kid.

obama has 8 years experience in the state senate of illinois, and 2 years of experience in the national senate. that's infinitely more than being governor of alaska and in a few city councils for less than 2 years. not to mention obama is a harvard law grad so that brings something.

they are both relatively inexperienced. i don't honestly like either obama or mccain. but, i would infinitely have obaama/biden over mccain/palin.

read my sig for more reasons.

mistervengeance

Well alaska has been invaded by a foreign country and has alot of oil!

Come on man, its the 21st Century, we shouldn't still be teaching children that creationism is true.

I won't say any more for fear that this will turn into another religion thread.

For the past few centuries, all that has been taught in public school is that evolutionary theory is absolute truth and that life is meaningless; so make the most out of it...

Why are those things to be proud of. We need to take care of our earth not destroy it. Creationism has no scientfic base so it shouldnt be taught in science class. I dont care what you teach in churches, dont bring religion into science. Pro-life does not work for the reasons I posted eariler in the thread. It takes more money to put an imate on death row than it does to keep him in prison for life. I dont want my tax money to go to putting some one to death.

An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind-ghandi.
