Why do people get their kids circumcised if not for religious reasons?

Because many people are ignorant and the doctors that promote it make money off of it.

Female Circumscision is only practiced in backwards 3rd world countries and isn't even in the bible (only Jewish men wre circumcised, not girls) and it is consiered to be gential mutilation on girls. I understand parents who have their boys circumcised because of religious reasons but if someone is not religious then why put a kid through that? I feel like we are born the way we are for a reason. We have evolved to have these parts because we need them.

Health and hygiene. It's been shown (by a small margin mind you) that having a circumcised penis is more hygienic that having one with foreskin. That, and the fact that women prefer a cut man.

There are arguments on both sides, but I've seen the statistics and they are enough that I won't question whether or not to have my son circumcised. This will be done by a doctor, not a religious official.

Reluctant doesn't mean it might not happen.

Removing a foreskin might (and has) lead to other complications that wouldn't have happened if they just let it be.

-over cutting, making erections painful until the skin stretches

-weaker scar tissue causing a rip in the skin

-infection that could lead to the entire penis being amputated
