The first word should also be capitalized. I don't know why it's so hard for people to remember to capitalize things.

Sure it's just a video game forum, but it boils down to the fact that a well typed post will be more effective at getting a point across than a poorly typed post that no one can make sense of. At the bare minimum I think most people should expect at least understandable sentences, whether there are mistakes in it or not. Surely makes everyone's time easier.

Well yeah, but it's generally not worth the time and energy to read it. Actually, that kind of typing is kind of handy. It's like a giant "Don't Read Me" sign, to help you avoid accidentally reading something really stupid.

I never said it did. I simply said that the act of reading that, in itself, is probably not worth the energy. Which is quite remarkable considering the relatively small amount of energy it takes to read a sentence, mirite?

What would be the point of leaving out capitals? It makes the post look neater, and anyone who knows how to type shouldn't have too much trouble hitting the shift key once in a while.

Some people type quicker without caps. Some people are lazy. Some people don't care about grammar on the internet. There is no point in leaving out caps...but really, there is no point in using them on a site like this.

Some people have an arbitrary distinction between grammar on the internet and grammar in other forms of communication.

Nope; however, I assume if someone is wanting to express something that they want me to bother to read, they will at least bother to try to express it clearly and correctly. Is it that big a deal if I decide that people who chronically express themselves poorly have nothing to say worth hearing? :)

Reading so many errors in text, is like playing basketball and some guy thinks he can sprint carrying the ball to the hoop. Its just annoying. Not to mention that if I make a mistake I would like to know about it to prevent it happening again.

1) You misspelled "miniscule".

2) "Miniscule" is a common word. If you don't know what it means, that's your fault.

3) It's hard to tell without more context, but I suspect that "insignificant" is probably the more appropriate word. After all, HIV and smallpox are both "miniscule" viruses, but I guarantee that you will be pretty concerned if you are ever infected by them.

If they can't be bothered to communicate in standard English, how worthwhile can whatever they have to say really be?

Yes. Yes, it is. It's also helpful for finding the beginning of a sentence.

Sentences usually begin after a punctuation mark. That's how you can find the start of one. My name is Tyler. There are caps on the last word of that sentence, that doens't help you find the start.

English mistakes are like the acne of writing: they're only skin-deep, and they don't really change anything meaningful, but they're ugly and are an immediate turn-off all the same.

Really, it's understandable why someone would abbreviate something in a chat room setting, because of how fast things move. But when you have all the time in the world on a message board setting, there's just no excuse whatsoever not to take like two extra seconds and make your post presentable.
