ok first of all, no duh the Bible doesnt just plain say that the earth (and universe) is only 6000 years old. Why? Because that would make the Bible dated, elimating its purpose.
Two. If anyone actually DID read their Bible they would know that i tcontains the complete family line from Adam all the way to Jesus which (what scholars have calculated) is about 4000 years. We all know Jesus lived 2000 years ago. Do the math. To call yourself a Christian and believe the earth is millions or billions of years old is either ignorance or straight blasphemy(a sin). And it is because of this ignorance or "need to fit in with the evolutionists" that Christianity has earned such a terrible name. Why is it sohard for REAL Christians to defend their faith? Because they dont kno how, because 1. religion is not taught in almost all public schools 2. They don't read their Bible because we live in a world that is slowly despising us more and more which makes learning apologetics very difficult
are you including the long life spans of some of these ancestors? Two. If anyone actually DID read their Bible they would know that i tcontains the complete family line from Adam all the way to Jesus which (what scholars have calculated) is about 4000 years.

if your wondering if I ever did the math myself - then no(dont bother using that as a fallacy in my argument.please)
im pretty sure it lists the ages for most (if not all) of Jesus' ancestors

someone who reads his Bible. Someone who knows that the Bible mentions that in the end times (now) there would be liars and hypocrites claiming to be Christians and prophets but are really deceivers in disguise. O and Christian is a follower of Christ. You could say Judas was a Christian, but then he betrayed Jesus, and then committed suicide from guilt, nowwas he a REAL christian. no.But a REAL christian is one who follows his teachings, goes to churches where pastors or scholars can help him interpret the Bible CORRECTLY. The Bible also commands this. To answer your question, yes. The Bible is the written word of the Lord, though some may misinterpret it, and even mislead others for it, that doesnt mean they cant be forgiven of their ignorance and find the Truth(something that almost everyone on earth has lost *sigh*)

It mentions how wicked the world will be with greed, lust......etc. Would you agree with the statement "the world is getting more wicked"? (hint:yes)
if you want more "physical" evidence, it also mentions changes the earth itself will go through. My personal favorite is how the amount of earthquakes will increase. Increase in Earthquake Frequency over the past several decades = FaCt
The signs are literally everywhere, Christians all over the world are discussing the possibility of the 2nd Coming of Jesus all the time now. Which answersthequestion "Why are all these Christians so desperate to get people saved nowadays(or as you would say "shove their religion down my throat")?"

To be honest, Christians are beginning to look down upon Catholicism, mainly because of the VAST misinterpretation of Scripture. Ill be frank WE ARENT SUPPOSED TO WORSHIP MARY, THAT IS STRAIGHT BLASPHEMY! srry if that offends but we ARE talking about peoples souls nowadays. I blame the corruption of Catholicism on the inability for practioners to read during the Middle Ages, only important religious readers could read the Bible, soon their lust for power got the best of them, they then began to create their own "laws" ie: the pope, no man is supposed to be the "head of all religion in the world" for the pope to be a teacher is not wrong, i mean thats what a pastor or a priest is right? but for him to able to "deny someone from Heaven" (excommunication) is just blasphemy, and not true. Another thing wrong with Catholicism is the constanly violate the second commandment - no graven images, why? because to worship a statue of someone, even if it is Jesus on a cross, not only puts a mental "limit" to God in their minds but also tends to lead them from God all together.
to be basic, Catholics are people trying to claw their way to Heaven through traditions and practice(which is my definition of religion, something im against)
BTW TRUE Christianity has nothing to do with tradition and practice at all, another thing that would suprise the world

Even when I was a chrstian I chose not to go to church. The preacher was always very boring and focused on a random piece of scripture for hours, they spent time singing instead of actuall learning, and even worse, used it as a way to pursue their own political agendas. I found it much better to read and interpret the bible myself rather than just let somg guy tell what it meant and blieve him just because he sais so.
They don't read their Bible because we live in a world that is slowly despising us more and more which makes learning apologetics very difficult
mig_killer2
Who are you to say that someone can't be a christian if they don't take every word of the bible literally? The RE tracher at my school even said that the bible should be interpreted symbolically.
someone who reads his Bible.
People have been claiming the end of times for nearly a thousand years now. What makes your claim any more sound?forgive the (now) i put, i should have put (soon.) read revelations, and the prophecies on the end times preceding it. it makes very specific mentions to what the earth will be like during the end times.
Which answersthequestion "Why are all these Christians so desperate to get people saved nowadays(or as you would say "shove their religion down my throat")?"
the amount of earthquakes has not been increasingAre you serious?.......:|
why dont you give me some proof, or at least a statistics proving the amount of earthquakes has been increasing[QUOTE="TheBigTicket21"]nobody knows how old.um..... wow

explain to me how non-life can develop into life and into human emotion. sometime around 3 billion years ago, the earth was this organic soup. over billions of years, the carbon dioxide, nitrogen and water in earths atmosphere and oceans combined with electricity to form amino acids. these amino acids eventually formed self-replicating polymers. these self-replicating polymers became bigger and more complex as time went on. eventually, the first lifeforms appeared. then evolution took its course[QUOTE="TheBigTicket21"][QUOTE="bradleybhoy"]um..... wow[QUOTE="TheBigTicket21"][QUOTE="Def_Jef88"][QUOTE="TheBigTicket21"]nobody knows how old.

So how old do you think the Earth is?
~4 Billion years.
That is funny. (No offence)None taken.
But I must ask: Why do you think it's funny?
I think the earth would be a terribly run down place or not even here if it were that old. Stop and think about how long 4 billion years really is.without humans Earth would be ok until the Sun expired.
We pollute the planet thus reducing how much longer it has to live
in the long run (hundreds of millions of years) humans will have absolutely no effect on this planet whatsoeverWOAH!

well, if christianity and evolution CANNOT coexist (which they can), then tough **** for christianity. what are you going to believe? a 2000 year old text, or mountains of empirical data?2000 year old text.
