Why do so many guys seem to dislike the idea of girls approaching them?

Yes, i'm referring to the reversal--it seems that there are lots of men out there who seem to react awkwardly to women playing the role of pick-up artist. Sometimes the look on their face is absolutely priceless(especially from cat calling lol); It can even be felt it in the way they respond at times. If you don't know what i'm talking about then this take this for example--

"Girl: Hey how you doing, what's your name cutie?

"Guy: "blank stare"......

"Girl: You shy or something?"

"Guy: Nah..not really"

"Girl: Well you seem kind of mean but I like it. Let me give you my number. = )

"Guy: What? have you been giving out your number all day or something?"

"Girl: umm...No? I don't usually give out my numbver or if some boy pesters me, I'll give him the wrong number just to get him out of my face maybe but thats all..."

"Guy: Are you giving me a fake number now?"

"Girl: Maybe...= )

"Guy: "walks off/ignores/excuses himself"

That's just one of many ways it can go of course(not saying there hasn't been any success) i'm just curious about what goes through a guys mind when a attractive girl approaches him. Are ya'll just shocked and don't know how to capitalize?? Is it seen as desperate? Slutty? Are ya'll intimidated? etc. Should men be the only ones approaching? I always assumed guys would see it as very sexy for a woman to approach them.

Honestly I feel threatened and I really get uncomfortable. Im a virgin tho, so i kind of fear she will seduce me or something.

in my experience with me being the one to ask a girl out, and her being the one to ask me out, i gotta say i like it better with the guy asking the girl. it's kinda awkward when you get the ugly chick that won't leave you alone at your work that keeps trying to talk to you but you ignore her.

that being said, sometimes it is flattering, it's sometimes flattering to have a girl approach you and use a pick up line on you. happened to me the other day at work, this girl came up and asked if she could buy my number for 26 cents lol, she was cute also, too bad when i asked her how old she was she said she was 15

Also, here is a hint to get a girl's "real" number at the club, tell her "I don't bring my phone to the bar," and ask for hers and you will give her your number, put your number in and send yourself a text on her phone. :P Worked for me.

Any guy that dislikes or is unable to recover from the initial shock of the different approach within the moment clearly doesn't know how to handle women. Not all women who approach a guy is slutty, but if that was what happened then she prob has at least a lil bit of sluttiness in her. That said, I still love when a woman knows what she wants.

If an attractive girl comes on strong it usually means trouble... unless your in a strip club or similar environment even then it's a similar situation. Basically you have something she wants it, and she's going to use her sexuality to get it.

I welcome it, but I'm not afraid to say no if I'm not interested and I understand some girls could be very offended at being rejected. I don't understand it personally, I could never bring myself down just for being rejected... I find it highly dubious that any girl would directly approach me though because a) I'm not extroverted and b) my looks are merely average. No incentive to really. But I don't think it's awkward at all.

Are you joking? That's like...exactly what every guy WANTS. My wife was the one to initially ask me out back when we were first getting to know each other, and I knew at that moment I would have to marry her. And I did....and I did.

I guess we could also consider what kinds of guys the TC is referring to... The ones that are socially strange around girls in general? Cause I believe most guys who know how to talk to women would love the idea of one approaching them for a change. It has happened to me, and it was something I really liked because it made things easier for me. I don't see why any guy wouldn't want that.Nerd_Man

Because women are cruel, I remember about 2 years ago There was this cute Japanese girl in my spanish language class that would always flirt with me, Shortly after I found that she had a boyfriend but would continue just teasing me. I knew the guy and could of taken her if I wanted but really thats just more trouble than its worth and frankly I don't like creating bad blood over something to trivial.
