Why does it seem like everyone loves metal here?

"They love to hate the mainstream"

"They dont want to be like everyone else"

"They have no taste"

Everyone seems to love it here. :? I'm not insulting it, or anything, it's just rare for me to find any listeners who like slower, mellow music. Why is that?dreDREb13

i dont like metal. id say the majority doesn't listen to metal, its just those who do advetise it.

Metal is a fairly big genre, and has many subdivides. I like some metal, but not that screamo, death, black tat.......Neontope

Most of what I listen to is Hardcore/Metalcore/Screamo, whatever you want to call it (Bullet For My Valentine, Children of Bodom, Saosin, Paramore, Coheed and Cambria) but Ill listen to anything.

What alot of people find strange about me is I can go from Bullet For My Valentine's "Waking The Demon" to Sara Bareilles "Love Song" or "Fairytale" (My personal favorite of hers), to Eminems "Loose Yourself" and still sing every word, haha.

Indeed. In fact, I just found a new Melo-Death Metal band that I really really like, so me = teh happy ^^

Anyway, @ TC: I think it seems to you that everyone likes metal because metal listeners tend to be very-outgoing and expressive, and when the subject is their favorite genre, they are even more eager. ;)

You think all heavy metal is like that? Your very sterotypical. Not all heavy metal is all screaming. And when people scream or groan they actually say stuff but, you can't understand what they say. It's not like screaming without any words the whole song. Thats just a sterotype. Listen to metal before you prejudge it.

I enjoy a lot of metal, but I also have a lot of other stuff too. I actually prefer softer stuff. That's why I dig Opeth, they have a perfect mix of heavy/soft.

I like a lot of different genres of music, not just metal.

Compared to what? That's rather ignorant. Metal musicians are more technically capable with their guitar than any other genre (Okay, maybe not classical).
